The Dell 3110cn Color Laser: Great small office printer

Pros:
- The first page print is excellent. It only took a few seconds to send out the first page.
- The ram is great. I sent a large 300mb file and it took less than 10 seconds to print. On my old Minolta it would take 15 minutes to print the same file.
- It prints very excellent and clear graphics in both black and white and color.
- Photographs print clear and crisp on regular paper, which is perfect of handouts, flyers, and quick presentation material, which I use often. I have not tried it on photo quality paper.
- Setup was a snap, only took me a couple minutes to plug everything in and run the setup disk.

Cons:
- It was heavy, which I did not mind except for during the set up. It took 2 people to get it up on the desk, however, keep in mind, I am not the strongest or biggest person.
- The toner cartridges were easy to install, but you have to follow the instructions. I pulled all the color tabs off before I installed the cartridge, which leaves part of the toner exposed. The last piece is supposed to be removed once it is in place. Otherwise, you end up with ink on your hands. It wasn't clearly marked about removing the final tab.

Unknown:
- I haven't tried the network card function yet.

Overall, this is an excellent printer. It is perfect for the small business or home office. The printing times are fast and the quality is clear and crisp. It is especially great for printing graphs, charts, text, and graphics.

I did a lot of research and read upteen reviews before buying this printer, and I have to tell you all that by far this is the best piece of hardware I have ever purchased.

Setup was a breeze (I even love the way Dell configured the shipping carton, with the plastic retainers that hold the box together). I had the printer out of the box and working on my network in about 10 minutes. Installing the individual toner cartridges was a snap (Dell's instructions are excellent). Configuring the printer for my network was easy (wired ethernet); I'm waiting for my wireless card to arrive so I can connect that way.

Print quality is excellent; hopefully the advertised print speeds will be attainable and the cost of consumables should be manageable.

All in all an excellent printer.

The printer is great. However, replacement cartridge are too expensive!!!
It's cheaper to buy a new printer that come with 4 cartridges, than to buy the replacement cartridges from Dell. So, unfortunately I'll need to buy another printer to save about $300.00-$400.00. Dell needs to lower the replacement cartridge price... Otherwise I'll need to keep buying new printers, keep the cartridges, and throw the printers away... I agree, Shame on Dell!

Photos look perfect--even on standard paper.
Printer is sturdy and can handle thicker paper types without issue.
Fairly cheap cost per page (when compared to other color lasers)
Toner Cartriges last a looong time. (several thousand pages each)
Takes a few minutes to unpack and set up but computer configuration was easy.
Printer application allows for TONS of customizations. This is a very handy way to quickly touch-up the pages being printed.

Two issues:
Printer is very large and very heavy (50 lbs+), not for small offices!
Also:
The print spooler process on the computer can sometimes crash. You have to reboot the computer before anything can be printed again. This happens mostly after resuming from hibernation. It affects many printer brands.

I bought the Dell 3110cn Laser Printer because it was ranked one of the highest for use and consumables. The delivery was fast the service was good and the printer is great! Tired of dried out ink cartridges? This is the one for you.

Nice machine. A little noisy, but that's trivial. Prints look great.

If you're running OS X, you need to go to the Dell website and download a driver. I think the CD it comes with is supposed to work on OS X, but it doesn't.

Also, reviews say that the printer runs on Windows98. I can't find a driver for 98, nor can I install it with drivers for other versions of windows, so I guess the reviewers just imagined it.

This is a good office color laser printer. Print quality is average to good. More than adequate for most office work. It's reliable and doesn't require much attention. The only down side is the cost a full set of toner cartridges exceeds the cost of a new printer with the same toner set in it. That said its more economical to run than most other color lasers in this price range even assuming you just buy a new one when the cartridges are all empty. Our office just bought the 3rd one of these. I'm hoping that someone soon comes out with aftermarket toner or refill kits as a reasonable price.

The printer is huge for a small home office and is fairly heavy. Setup was extremely easy, and the toner that is included is rated for 4000 pages each color! Most other color lasers I found cost more, and only come with enough toner to print a 1000 or so pages then you have to spend almost as much as the printer to restock the toner! Print quality is excellent, printer "wakes up" from stand-by mode in just seconds and prints almost immediatly. Excellent printer.

Good quality print, has a small delay prior to printing. Needed for business on a small scale, the product serves the purpose for which it was purchased.

Product arrived with defective fan and was unusable for the first week until tech-support could schedule repairs. Over all the performance has been excellent, installation and setup was a breeze. Quality and speed of printing is superior. I would recommend this printer to anyone needing high volume quality printing at an affordable price. The unit I have has exceeded my expectations.

Easy setup; easy install; great print quality including photos. I would highly recommend this printer to any home or small business operator. My wife uses a Dell 3110cn at her work and she is equally satisfied with the printing results.

Better than I expected for the money. It replaced a much more expensive Lexmark, and its doing a better job at a fraction of the cost, and a fraction of the cost per copy for toner.

Faster and less noise than my Minolta 2300DL. Excellent print quality. Highly recommend the optional 2nd paper tray. I actually created two different printers in software: One uses only tray 1 which contains checks for use with Quicken and the other uses only tray 2 which holds up to 550 sheets of paper. I am getting the use of two printers with the expense of one. The only bad part is the cost of consumables. For me, that is not enough to drop the rating below 5.

I have had a Dell 3110CN printer for 1 1/2 years before buying two more and I absolutely love these printers. The 3110CN prints fast and clean, even when printing in color. I highly recommend this printer to everyone.

Great printer for the price. Fast, quiet, and high quality. The only downside is the toner cost. You are better off to buy a new printer with the smaller toners than to purcase just the 8000 page toner refills.

I needed these for a church the printers were priced great compared to retail. He shipped them faster than expected i appreciated that. But the price vs. retail is what made me buy in the end.

The printer functions great and is very reasonable in price on Ebay. Major drawback is it takes 4 expensive toner cartridges. Generic toner cartridges aren't available and the BRANDED ones are $90-210. It is more economical to donate the printer, and, purchase an entirely new one which comes with the toner cartridges, than it is to buy replacement cartridges. The duplexer and 550 page tray and be harvested from the current & reinstalled in the newest one.

Other than that IT is a good printer.

Here I was with an old HP deskjet printer, buying ink cartridges every 3 weeks at $25-29 a pop when I looked into getting this Dell laser printer. I figured out that it would pay for itself in 18 months. The toner it came with lasts for almost 9 months for me (I print 50-75 pages per day black) and replacement toner is only $109.99 for an 8,000 yield black cartridge available directly from Dell. A quality investment and a workhorse you won't regret!

Sound=It's loud when it gears up, but quiet when it prints
Size=it's a beast, no kidding there, but I have a very small office and I made it work just fine
