Dell 2400MP DLP Projector

The Dell 2400MP DLP projector is an excellent projector. I have worked with one before and highly recommend it. For a small projector it is quite powerful. It can produce up to 3000 lumens. I saw several other projectors on eBay that were 1100 or 1500 lumens and were almost as expensive. We purchased this projector for a Church and it has been excellent for us. We are able to use it during worship with the lights all on bright and it still gives us a great picture on a 7 foot wide screen. We also have installed a large screen (10.5 feet wide) in our basement. With the blinds all shut and the room dark it fills that screen with a great picture. There are a few other projectors by Dell that are close in number (2300 and 2200) but they have much less power.
One of the features that I really like is it's automatic search for a signal. During our After-School Program, we use a laptop and Powerpoint for songs and show them with the Dell 2400MP. Then we show a movie using the Dell 2400MP. As soon as I shut the laptop, the Dell 2400MP starts seaching for a new signal. As soon as I turn on the VCR/DVD the projector picks up the signal and I don't have to touch the projector. I highly recommend the Dell 2400MP.

I received this projector just two weeks ago, to date it is performing as advertised. Excellent clarity, brightness,contrast and color in a small low cost package.

This was a great deal on an excellent projector. I tried to find another a couples weeks later but couldn't get close to the price.

This projector is bright and crisp. It has xga graphics and a high contrast ratio. I wish it had more imputs(hdmi). This projector gave the best bang for the buck.

The Dell 2400MP DLP projector has a relatively small form factor which makes it good for a home theater as it can be easily disguised. Being small doesn't mean it lacks any features. It's rated at 3000 lumens, has both horizontal and vertical keystone and a native resolution of 1024x768. The picture is really bright even with say a 60w light on in the room and with a 2100 contrast ratio the black images contain much detail but don't expect it to be as good as say a 720p LCD TV. I use normal DVDs as I haven't gotten into the whole HD phenomena as yet. For fast pace action scenes the dynamic pictures seems to get blurry but I'm not sure if that's the quality of the DVD in question as well as the 84" diagonal size screen I've setup. But in any case the experience is breathtaking.

However, there are some things to note here. For instance the accuracy of the color reproduction is slightly off in the red spectrum. I can't seem to get a good fire engine red color out of it. The best is a red to mahogany mix. Orange as well looks a bit dull like a red brown color. Another downside is the heat. The 260w bulb pushes out a lot of wasted energy as heat which can really make the room feel uncomfortable. I've got my setting at econo and still it becomes a bit unbearable at times. If you have an AC or good ventilation then this should not be a problem. The last thing I have notice is the time it take the projector to sync to the input signal. Between 10 to 30 seconds at times for the PC signal and even more for the DVD using RGB. Sometimes I get the out of range error coming up even though the laptop is set to the native resolution. I just have to
disconnect and reconnect and it works.

Having said this I've given the projector a 4 rating really because it produces a bright and vivid picture for a reasonable price and the whole family enjoys it as much as going to the movies.
