Album Notes
One of the most prominent and long-running ensembles in the energetic conjunto style of Mexico (and neighboring Texas), Conjunto Primavera follows up 2004's successful DEJANDO HUELLA with a like-minded sequel. Here the key traditional elements of bajo sexto, accordion, percussion, and horns blend with accessible, pop-influenced arrangements and smooth, crooning vocals.
The album's opener, "Ave Cautiva," features the saxophone prominently (not surprising, given the disc's artwork), while "Me Nacio del Alma" glides along on a polka-like melody. The mid-tempo "Hazme Olvidarla," marked by pleading, highly emotive singing, sharply contrasts with the galloping clip of "Tu Cantor" and the playful, appropriately slow pace of "Borracho" (which translates as "drunk"). Fans of Conjunto Primavera know of the ensemble' remarkable consistency, and DEJANDO HUELLA II keeps with that winning streak.
