The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls by Debbie Garrett (2003, Paperback)

As a black doll collector, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found it to be enlightening as well as entertaining. It is informative, easy to read, and a great reference book. I have bought several copies as gifts for my friends and my family.

I love collecting African American dolls and always wanted a book that specifically addressed this line of dolls. This book does that and more. The photographs are color and clear. The descriptions are coherent and full of valuable information. I think there could be many more books like this. It covers a nice wide range of different dolls including Barbie. This book is a great addition to any doll collector's reference section! A+

I am a collector of black dolls and there is very little information available about black dolls and black doll collecting. I am grateful for being able to purchase such a book. I am also grateful to the very few that took their valuable time to publish a historical document. I LOVE IT!

I truly enjoyed the book, which contained a great deal of good information that was useful to me as a doll collector. I needed to know more about the different dolls that I was collecting and their more true value, and this book provided some of that information for me, not to forget the wonderful picture, that were very clear. Thanks for a very good book. I would recommend that other doll collectors purchase this book. By the way, the book was in very good condition.

There are not many books on black doll collecting. I have a couple of other ones that have more listings. I like that this has color pictures. I think more research could have been done to make this book more inclusive. I like having this in my collection.

ATTENTION: Beginners and advanced doll collectors The Definitive Guide to Collecting Black Dolls is a must have and should be in all serious doll collectors libraries. The historical information is invaluable and the resources and accuracy of doll descriptions are great. Debbie Garrett has covered various types of dolls, current, past and vintage in the book. The colored pictures are great and it a great help in identification of dolls. The price guide is another plus and very helpful when you are at doll shows. I highly recommend this book.

This is a must have book for collectors. It is easy to use and I have found it to be very helpful teaching black history in both local schools and public libraries. The full color pages captivates the eyes while the easy to use identification guide provides necessary information for of all my students. I have encouraged twenty libraries and 17 school systems to order a copy for thier use. Linking African American history with black doll history is a unique teaching experience and made possible with the Definitive Guide to Black Doll collecting. I wish to thank Ms. Garrett for her work and am loooking forward to the next book.

I am collector of BLack Dolls is this is one of the best books you can every purchase. It doesn't matter if you're a collector of Barbie dolls or Toddler size dolls you'll find information that will help you. What I dislike the most about this book nothing.

I purchased the book because of my extensive collection of black dolls.I love the all color format and the wide variety of dolls covered.I also love the fact that each doll and section is given specific detailed information.I have no dislikes about the book and would recommend it for beginning as well as established collectors of Black Dolls.

Written by Debbie Garrett, an experienced and serious collector, the book is a wonderful resource of information about black dolls. The book includes great descriptions, beautiful pictures and helpful valuations of the dolls included. It could prove to be very helpful for the beginning collector but is also a great resource for experinced collectors. Because of the great pictures it also makes a great "Coffee Table" book.

I collect dolls and doll books and this is the best book in my collection. The color pictures are spectacular. The doll descriptions show thorough research. The variety of dolls included is all inclusive. This is a book that you will never regret having and will enjoy reading over and over.

Books about Black Dolls are very difficult to find. This book is a must have for collectors and fans of Black Dolls. This book is very easy to read with beautiful pictures therefore it can be enjoyed by all ages. It can be enjoyed by the beginning collector as well as advanced collector. There is information about paperdolls, barbie,my twinn, cloth, and dolls you can't even imagine. Please be aware, after I purchased this book I became so enthusiastic in my doll collecting that my collection nearly quadrupled in size. I highly recommend this book, because I continue to thoroughly enjoy it.

This book is essential for anyone who collects black dolls. I love everything about it, and definately use it!!! I have found this resource quite useful in determining the value of a doll. It's an awesome book.
