THIS BOOK IS READ BY SCOTT BRICK Unabridged

This book does not promote any of the diet books on the market today. Mr. Pollan is telling us we need to go back to wholesome foods and forget about dieting! Don't over-eat but chew your food slowly and enjoy it. Americans eat too much processed food which leads to health problems. The food industry artificially improves our foods and makes claim they are as good as natural foods, but the truth is they are very different. Forget food shows and books that push us into preparing 20 to 30 minute meals. Those meals need processed foods to make them quick and we are leaving out the nutritional content and adding big calories

Refined foods are a real danger. We deserve better for ourselves. I highly recommend this book.

  book, excellent--narration, not so much...
Review created: 01/11/09

I very much enjoyed the book--Michael Pollan is an excellent and insightful author and researcher. I was less than thrilled about the narration, however. The reading, though clear and easy to understand and follow, was at times a little too dramatic, which at times distracted from the content. I loved the book An Omnivore's Dilemma, but its length made it difficult to read with a young child to take care of, so for the next book I decided to listen instead. If you can get past the narration, you will find the information indespensable.
