Bought it as a gift for my husband. The price was great. He was very pleased and we had to watch it immediately. It was a score in my books.

It's a sci-fi-horror movie that has humor (at times) in it. I bought because every once in a while I like to go back and see certain movies and it is one of them.

I loved this movie from the second time I watched it.. lol, had to fast forward through it the first time.. ( I am a chicken when it comes to scary movies, but I love them!! ) The special effects are great!!! To see this thing coming at you is just awesome.. made me sit on the edge of my chair shouting.. " Move, Move!!, Run, darn you run!!" The only thing I did not like about this movie was the ending.. they left it off for a sequel and did not follow through. Well the movie didn't do so well at the box office or in sales when it came out on tape.. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to watch it again and again... lol

ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, AN ENJOYABLE FILM.

Deep Rising is a rather campy movie, but it does manage to keep a person's attention, and is filled with special effects, both physical and digital. You find yourself caring about the good guys and disliking the bad, but even the bad guys are likable in their own way as they get what is coming to them in interesting and clever ways. I liked this enough to purchase a copy for my own collection.

Great action flick. Good mix of humor and horror. Quite a bit of violence and gore. There's some foul language, but it can be overlooked.

  Deep Rising

Treat Williams. Is the main character, a man without the girl, in the beginning of the film, by the end of the film, he has the girl. And the classic line, in this film is his trademark: "What Now?" Just before something bad happens.
Treat is a Soldier of Fortune, guns, ammo and an old PT Boat. Wired with modern technology, a friend runs the engines, and a chinese girl does all the dirty work, like keeping the ship afloat. He takes on a crew of mercs, who hire him to take them out into the middle of now where in the middle of the ocean. The mercs are hired to rob the passengers and sink the cruise ship. The entire plan goes awry when the cruise ship owner sabatoges his ship, and then finds out that even the ocean holds it own mysterious creatures of the deep. And this creature is hungry. As it takes on the ship, all the passengers are eaten alive, and all the good morsels are devoured while the person is still alive, and the skeletal remains are deposited outside the monster. The mercs are slowly being eaten one by one. There is shooting in every direction. And the monster survives. Finally it is down to the girl, treat and the cruise ship owner. When the monster reveals itself as a very large, very hungry thing. Treat gets the girl, they escape the cruise ship owner is alive long enough to meet his end, and the monster meets Treats justice. But our story doesn't end there. Sitting on a deserted island is Treat the girl, and his friend the mechanic who show up and as you faded away from the island you hear the famaliar roar of a monster, and Treats famous line-"What Now?"
A classic monster film, that will keep you glued to the screen, just like Halloween, to see what happens next.

  Very original gore scenes
Review created: 01/15/07

It's not your average monster movie, with just a monster chasing someone and then killing them. They die in weird ways like one getting sucked down a toilet, one person getting eaten and then being spit back up and watching his body basically get eaten away by acid.

Despite what others tell you, I really thought this was a good film. Yeah it has its corn-ball moments but I really liked it. I thought it was one of the best monster flicks that came out of the 90's. It's better than those stupid snake, bats, spider, and lizard movies that came out at about the same time. It is also way better than The Relic!

Deep Rising is one of the best horror/action flicks!!
Review created: 11/09/06

You want action? Adventure? Horror? This movie has everything you want except for a sequel. Roguish heroes, damsels who give it back as hard as they get it. A creature that will devoure you and suck all of your juices dry. This is the horror fan's delight. Treat Williams is the Han Solo of hugh sea's horror. Famke Jannsen is the princess leia, they make a great and hot couple. Ya gotta watch this and be thrilled....

The movie has an adventure about the Deep Sea that we all fear,I mean we all believe that things are out there in the Deep Sea.This movie brings out that excitement to the viewer. The movie doesn't have that "OH THIS LOOKS FAKE" kind of feeling..This is by far a great action film thats leaves you thinking "WHERE IS PART 2" when they get to land...
I got this to add to my collection of Action,Suspense
Give this a great "TWO THUMBS UP".....
