Melody Beacham is a former supermodel and social butterfly who finds out a shocking secret at the reading of her mother's will. The man who raised her as his own daughter, Wallis Beacham is not her biological father. When Wallis hears in the will how he has been duped all these years he is more than just a little angry. He will do all he can to keep Melody from inheriting a cent. Melody feels it's best to stay out of his way and so moves to New York and works with her mother's good friend who owns an art gallery. Before long, she is unknowingly recruited into a covert group who want to use her as bait to trap Wallis. The group suspects him of being involved in human cloning, terrorism and also murder! Helping her to prepare for all this is the team leader, Nikolai (Nick) Anwar who's covert identity is that of a Russian mobster for hire. Melody and Nick are to pose as lovers, but the fake acts of passion soon become real. They also discover that there is a spy within the organization, so will she be able to get the info they need on her "father?"
Ms. Cresswell is top notch on suspense and I read her books whenever possible. The only problem with this story was that there too many plots going on and I felt a lot were left dangling. Well.....after checking it out, I realized that there are two sequel books that go with this one. If you like to wait to tie up loose ends then this is no problem. I don't mind series, I have read plenty, as long as the one story is finished before another begins. Luckily, this was an older book and I was able to get the next two right away or else it would have been a year wait inbetween. Always good to check on those things.
