Looking over the book, the information to fix your credit is compiled in one place. It is information that is available without buying the book with time and effort.

The government grant web site that he suggests in the book does have a lot of grants offered, but be prepared to sit there for hours to look through them and see if there are any that you can use. I have yet to find the grants that he was talking about in the Debt Cures infomercial.

It is a great idea to buy this book through eBay. I understand that if you buy the book through the infomercial, you will be automatically signed up for a news letter and charge monthly.

I thought this book would give good insight to helping with debt. 50% of the book talked about how bad and corrupt the government is, especially the Bush government (like credit cards werent around before 2000!) 40% is telling stories or examples of people fighting credit companies, and the last 10% is giving information that anyone should already know. Let me save you some money and time...check your credit rating, call the card companies and ask that your interest rate be lowered, and tell the collectors to stop calling you...there...i just saved you $20-$30.00 and time of reading 300 pages to tell you those three things. What a crock!

I would not buy anything from Kevin Trudeau without reading it in the library first, given his history as a scam artist. If you want a book with solid advice about curing debt and taking control of your life, read "The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey which you can find on eBay or half.com

What I liked most about the book is the catchy title. The title leads the reader to believe that all of your financial problems will be over after reading the book. This may be true for some, however, I found the book to be very repetitive in the given information. This book may be an asset for those who have no prior knowledge or dealings with debt; for me, the book did not prove to be beneficial.

I have read (not bought) his books and you talk about a dangerous person if you follow any of his advice. He is under a heavy attack by the federal government about the contents in his books. I know a guy who bought and followed his guidelines or what you want to call them about cures. The fellow followed them and almost died. We kept telling him that he looked like hell and shouldn't keep following the information in this book. He said that if weren't true that they wouldn't allow it to be printed. Say him a couple of weeks ago, he quit following the book and starting living life the way it should be lived and he looks 100% better. BE CAREFUL Oh forget about his debt cure book he's under investigation on this one also.

Debt Cures "Things you already know"
Review created: 10/22/08

Nothing in this book was something to write home about. It talks way too much about scenerios and numbers. It constantly makes the Financial Industry look like bad guys and the government is in with them on making the average American slaves to debt. We already know that! The book and the commercials promise to show you ways of eliminating debt and turning it into wealth. However, Kevin forgot one major thing. We don't have the money to settle these debts; otherwise, we wouldn't have them in the first place. He talks of calling your creditors and asking to settle debt. Easier to do when you have the money to do it. I am still in the same financial mess that I was in before purchasing the book. I have already called all my creditors and asked for lower rates and I am still running on the treadmill of debt. I am looking for a hardcore way to eliminate debt. I guess I'll continue to play the lottery. The book is for people who have on Poly Sci Socioeconomic understanding of society and the government works. It may do them some justice; but, not the average College Graduate. Buy it if you want to. I think you will be just as disappointed as I.

I think the book is okay, but the last half of the free money grants and things were the only new things I didn;t know about. There is plenty of free info on the net that actually is a lot like the beginning of the book. I would have kicked myself in the ass if I had paid full price, but on ebay, it can be a mistake and still be cool. Ebay rocks!!!

Debt Cures "They" Don't Want You to Know about by Kevin

When I requested the book, based on the promos from Kevin Trudeau, I thought that there were a series of areas that I have not covered throughout my 28 years of Banking. To my surprise, no major pointers were new, so I technically lost my money in the purchase.

The beginning chapters, or the set up, were constant repetitions that if you do not overcome them, probably you would close the book and store it in a shelf. The action commenes when different pointers are addressed and a course of action is described for the reader. Probably this is the most interesting part of the book. Too much set up before giving you the hints may be harmful for some of us.

Several sections are tailored to specific needs, which from a variety of potential readers, may be skipped if not relevant.

However, the book is good for those who are currently in debt that would like to see alternatives for improving their financial condition. The book can help them seek alternatives.

If you are not in debt and are constantly on top of your financial condition, this book may not be for you. However, several tips may apply to this sector.

In summary, the book is not for everybody, but those who are really in debt seeking to look for alternatives to improve their financial health.

For those that are not in debt, there are some pointers that may be worthwhile reading, but not at a full price book. Kevin Trudeau should prepare a condensed summary of the pointers for this sector.

I actually purchased this book on behalf of a close friend of mine, but I have had the opportunity to review it also. I did find several useful websites and information I will be using to hopefully resolve some of my own problems, but if you are looking for quick fixes this isn't the book for you. It, however, does give you the needed information if you are willing to do the research and work involved. Overall I would say it was money well spent.

  SECRET????

The real secret is if you are clueless about Credit Cards then this book is great. There is enough info that even a Pro will find a few tid bits that can be used to help raise a FICO score. As far as Mr. Trudeau he is great at what he does. This book is worthwhile to anyone who is also writing Non Fiction Self Help Books as it can show you how to turn a thirty page pamphlet into a novel sized book. With that said it is well worth a read.

Good book to learn about how credit works...
Review created: 07/13/08
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This book is very informative, educational, and concise. Trudeau does an excellent job explaining how the credit industry operates and how they are able to manipulate the public into borrowing themselves to death. He also shows how policymakers benefit from cooperating with lenders to increase their profits. I am a huge fan of Trudeau's work as I have also read several of his other books. I recommend this book to anyone who is considering filing for bankruptcy. It has some techniques that could prove useful in preventing major financial catastrophes. You will learn quite a bit about what is legal, what you can do to work with creditors, and how your credit affects you now and in the future. This is an excellent book to give to students or young people who are just starting out to help them avoid financial problems.

Not only does the author give a concise and uncomplicated description of ways to tackle debt of all kinds; but he lists a multitude of agencies to apply to, for grants (money you donot have to repay)that can help get you back on your feet. The author has done all of the research and all one has to do is apply the information. With the economy effecting so many in adverse ways, this is truly a MUST READ!!!! Thankyou Mr. Trudeau!

The book did give the information I was interested in that is the part I liked about it. What I disliked was the repetiveness, it was not well organized. I bought the book because I thought it would be interesting to read anothers opinion on how cut or eliminate debt. It is a far cry from that. I loved it because that guy really wants to help others. If I knew now what I know, I would not purchase it again.

I have read several of Mr. Trudeau's books. Each and every one wastes half the book on telling you how hard he struggles against the government. Instead of telling me how to fight back against the credit card companies, he tells me how the companies conspire against me to increase my debt. Instead of, in his " cures " books telling me how to go to my kitchen cabinet or refridgerator and whip up a cure for cancer, he talks about how the government holds him back. You do NOT get answers from him.You do NOT get cures from him. What you do get is a diatribe about fighting govt. red tape and he DOES NOT even tell you how to do that.

DEBT CURES by Kevin Trudeau (2007) HB
Review created: 04/06/09
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Kevin Trudeau is everywhere these days: on infomercials that grace the wee-hours airwaves; on talk shows; and in Borders and Barnes & Noble, thanks to his several books purporting to introduce an unsavvy public to the behind-the-scenes scoops on topics as health cures and debt relief. This book is thick, at 308 pages, and does include some useful information and tips, but it does not truly live up to its name since the best "cure" for debt is simply to tighten the belt and pay the debt off, and the best prevention for debt is to not buy anything using credit that can not be immediately paid at the end of the month with cash on hand (except for a home or boat or smilar large item). However, the concept that the lending industry is unscrupulous about recruiting persons for their products is well-taken, and some of the statistics are mind-boggling! For example, did you know that 4 billion pieces of unsolicited surface-mail solicitations are sent annually in the United States? Or that interest rates above 21% constitute usury in this country while fees can exceed 45% and can cover exactly the same sorts of services? I was surprised to learn that every American carries a credit card debt approximating $8000 and that the USA is $6.7 trillion in debt with that figure increasing by $2 billion daily! Some useful advice: (1) Debts over three years old have exceeded their statute of limitations, so consumers ought to simply hang up on collections agents who dun; (2) When starting to get in too deep with monies owed, try bargaining with creditor(s) to extend payoff(s); bankruptcy is not typically the best answer for most people; (3) Credit repair agencies may be scammers; (4) conscientiously checking and persistently correcting all three of one's credit reports quarterly can be quite beneficial; (5) Having a credit score 50 points higher may save thousands on a 30-year home loan than for the identical loan amount compared to wha will be paid in interest by someone with a credit score 50 points lower; (6) Put down 20% when buying a home so that PMI wll not be charged; (7) Shave years off your mortgage by paying the entirety in 1/4-sized bits through the month; (8) Prepay mortages if possible; (9) Write down all transactions with creditors and collectors, et al; and (10) Save, save, save!
