The Carnage Continues

The second book in Jeff Lindsay's series about a serial killer working for the forensics divison of the Miami police department doesn't disappoint. This installment is more thriller than mystery and is full of character development that will probably be key in the next few novels.
This time Dexter is hunting a fellow sociopath who leaves his victims alive and insane in a manner that is probably to grusome for me describe here. Deeply disturbed Dex is forced to join forces with his arch enemy, the hate filled Sargeant Doakes, to find this new maniac before all hell breaks loose in Miami and the body count increases.
The Dexter series gets better with every read and I am highly anticipating the next book which is due out in Spring. The Showtime series, which has recently premiered is also worthy of watching as it follows closely the storyline of the first novel and if they plan on doing the second, Showtime may become the most contraversial network on television. This book and show should be kept away from anyone with weak sensibilities or under seventeen. For those that appreciate fantastic writing and like the genre though, it is a fun wild ride.
