  DEAR HEARTS GREATNESS

DEAR HEART IS ONE OF THOSE MOVIES THAT IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF A MOVIE THAT CAN HAVE A STRONG STORY LINE WITHOUT PROFANITY, SEX AND OR VIOLANCE TO GET PEOPLES ATTENTION. IT RELIES OF THE STRONG ACTING SKILLS OF ITS STARS, LEADING AND SUPPORT. ADD TO IT THE GREAT SONG OF THE SAME TITLE WRITTEN BY A GREAT SONG WRITTER AND THERE YOU HAVE IT, A MOVIE MADE THE WAY A MOVIE AGAIN SHOULD BE MADE. NOW WE HAVE IN OUR MOVIE COLLECTION ON VHS A GREAT COPY OF IT IN OUR HOME. NOW IF THEY WOULD ONLY MAKE IN THE DVD FORMAT, THAT I WOULD BUY IN A SECOND. THE SAD THING ABOUT IT IS IF IT WERE MADE TODAY, IT WOULD FAIL. SEX AND PROFANITY, SAD TO SAY HAVE TAKEN OVER AND IT IS DOWN RIGHT HARD FOR A QUALITY FATHER AND MOTHER TO FIND A MOVIE THEY CAN TAKE THEIR KIDS TO. I SHOWED IT TO OUR GRANDKIDS AND THEY LOVED IT. ONE SAID OF GLENN FORD, "HE IS A NEAT GUY GRANDPA."YES INDEED, HE IS I SAID BACK ADDING, IT IS TOO A NEAT MOVIE.

The title clearly pertains to the movie character.

I bought this VHS because the movie has been a favorite of mine for years and it is not available on DVD yet. It is a tender love story about an older couple who happen to meet in a hotel. She is there for a postmasters convention, and he sells greeting cards. He is engaged to another woman, has a fling with another, and then meets and falls for another. Glen Ford is great, as is Geraldine Page.

  Simple and Sweet

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. By today's standards it is fairly dated, but the story is sentimental and sweet. Page plays a Post Mistress just in New York for a Postal convention. She is a lover of people and enjoys poking into their business, but does so in a kind and quirky way. Ford plays the traveling Greeting Card salesman that is considering marriage and is at the end of his "on the road" career. These two meet at the hotel and their story begins. This movie is really a hidden treasure. It has themes of loving yourself and being true to what you are. It also holds an element of innocence and a bygone time. I think it is really one that you would enjoy if you gave it a chance. The theme song is a hit from the 1960's and it does end happily. This film is a true gem and if you are looking for a simple love story, then you will enjoy this. It is sweet and simple, but a true jewel.
