not what I expected
This is somewhat of a Deaf history book. It gives many details and many insights to the Deaf world. It addresses who they really are as a people, their language, history, opinions, and is a great overall book. I am reading it for my ASL class, and though I have not completed this book at this point, I cannot wait to read and see what more it has to say. Thus far, I have grown to have a deeper respect and understanding for Deaf people and their lifestyle, language, and the culture. There is SO much information that is shocking, but it is truth. It helps that it is written by Deaf people, but that is what makes it all the more powerfull.
