Deadwood: Music from the HBO Original Series
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.
My wife and I might be described as extreme fans of the HBO series 'Deadwood'. We have even gone so far as to visit the actual town - six times! Right from the start let me tell you this CD is a necessary item for the Deadwood fanatic. It not only has a great deal of the music from the first season of the series but sound bits from many of the episodes. Now be warned up front; these sound bits pull no punches and have some of the colorful foul language the series is infamous for. There are parts of this CD that might offend the sensibilities of some but it is all true to the nature of the series.
On the other hand if you enjoy the eclectic mix of music that runs through the series this CD is a bonanza! If you are not so easily offended and would like to hear the colorful philosophical orations of Al Swearagen (Ian McShane)or Wild Bill Hickok (Keith Carradine)this CD will definitely tickle your fancy.
The music is an interesting mix; everything from the haunting instrumental such as 'Arriving in Deadwood' to works of Lyle Lovett and the late June Carter Cash. My wife and I now play this whenever we travel to Deadwood.
