Dead Man's Walk (DVD, 2001)

I am a lonesome dove fan. I was so pleased with the movie, even though it got bad reviews. You can never duplicate lonesome dove. If you are truly a die hard fan that has all of the dvd's and books. You will love this movie as much as I continue to enjoy it.

I bought the movie because I like good western movies and this one was very well done so it will be part of my western movie collection.

I want to get all the Gus & Call movies and this is a great chance to get one. If you want a good western then this series is a great way to start.

THE FIRST HALF OF THIS SERIES WAS WONDERFULL. THE ACTORS WHO PLAYED YOUNG CALL AND MCCRAY WERE TOTALY IN CHARACTER WITH ONE WOULD EXPECT HAVING SEEN LONESOME DOVE.
THE ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN THE INEXPERIENCED TEXANS WITH THE TOUGH, SAVY AND UNPREDICTIBLE COMMANCHE WARRIORS MUST HAVE BEEN A REAL EYE OPENER FOR A T.V. WESTERN AUDIENCE ACCUSTOMED TO AND EXPECTING THE SIMPLISTIC EASY DOMINANCE OF THE COWBOY OVER THE INDIAN.
THE SECOND HALF OF THE SERIES DELT WITH THE FAILED TEXAN EXPEDITON TO WREST NEW MEXICO, THEN PART OF MEXICO, AWAY FROM MEXIAN AUTHORITY.
THIS STRUGGLE WAS TOO LONG AND DRAWN OUT. THE BEST THING I CAN SAY ABOUT IT IS THAT IT ALLOWED THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS AN OPPURTUNITY TO DEVELOP BEFORE OUR EYES.
FINALLY, THE SCENE WITH THE LEPER WOMAN AND BUFFALO HUMP WAS INGENIOUS!

A OUTSTANDING MOVIE... IF YOU ENJOYED LONESOME DOVE YOU MUST GET THIS DVD
THIS STORY IS WHEN WOODROW AND GUS WERE YOUNG PRIVATES IN THE TEXAS RANGERS.

Great Movie, The first movie of the Lonesome Dove Sequel. Just like the book. Great action, adventure, and romance all in one mini series. Takes you into the West before it was settled. Legendary Texas Rangers start there career chancing down dangers outlaw indians and all the struggles of survival that come along with it, not only the indians them self but facing the elements.

I am a "Lonesome Dove" junkie and have to confess that Gus stole my heart. I have three dogs, Gus, Woodrow and Jake! I love the way Larry McMurtry goes back in time to give us the history on Gus and Call and then moves forward, beyond the Montana cattle ranch. I've read the series of books McMurtry wrote about these characters and the movies run a close parallel. It's difficult for me to see other actors portray Woodrow. Tommy Lee Jones,in my opinion,gave life to Woodrow. When James Garner and what's his name play the character in later years, it's just not the same. On New Year's Eve, my husband and I had a Lonesome Dove marathon, starting with Dead Man's Walk and then Lonesome Dove. I guess we're showing our age because we couldn't stay awake after that! These are the kind of stories I will revisit on a regular basis. Way to go McMurtry.

This movie has wore me out. First - Finding it. That was not easy as to they do not make it any more. Second - Affording to buy it. I have found if you find a "New" movie it can go as high as $30.00 to $40.00. Find a used movie (which I did ) will still cost about $20.00 to $30.00 by the time you add shipping. Third - If you really want this movie you need to be online when it gets to final countdown or you will possibly lose you chance of owning it. After several great battles on ebay to win this movie I finally won . Only to say that I really like the movie but nothing will ever compare to the orginal Lonesome Dove. Had my husband not "had to have" this movie I would have passed. So if you are a Lonesome Dove collector get the movie - my husband thinks it worth every dime. I on the other hand I do not know if this movie was worth all the hup-la for getting it. Buy it and you decide.

Love watching the older movies. This movie doesn"t have to be watched by adults before allowing children to watch

I bought the Movie a few weeks ago as a belated father's day gift. The dvd worked fine and was in great condition - no scratches, etc. Even the box made it look like new. The movie ran perfectly fine in the dvd player. I'd recommend this movie for another birthday/father's day or other gift item.

This dvd is a must have for the fans of the Lonesome Dove series.....I bought it to finalize my collection of the Lonesome Dove series....I am still looking for Streets of Laredo to complete my collection...

This DVD has some of the greatest scenery! A lot of action and humor. Would recommend this DVD to anyone.

My husband like this series. I bought this to get the entire Lonesome Dove series for my husband to give to him this Christmas.

I got this for a gift to give to someone. They must have liked it as I haven't heard anything negative from them. They received it very soon and it was in excellent condition.

A classic western. A must see for the western lonesome dove fans.The early days of Gus Mcrae and Woodrow Call.

I bought Dead Mans Walk to complete the set. I thought David Arquette did a good job as Gus McCrae and James Olmos as Captain Salazar. Good storyline for being the first of the Lonesome Dove movies.

We wanted to finish the Lonesome Dove Series and this is one of the films. It was very long and good.

I LOVED this movie. It was so exciting to see the young lives of Agustus
McCrae & Woodrow F. Call, to see how they evolved into the men they were in Lonsome Dove.
There was plenty of action & suspense, as well. Not to mention romance, to see how Gus met & fancied Clara & how Woodrow met Newt's mother, Maggie.

I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Lonesome Dove, and a fan of the Old West.
