This is an excellent bat for the semi-serious or serious youth baseball player trying to get some extra pop for that little league or pony league game.

The bat isn't cheap. It can run 100 to 185 dollars for a brand new bat, especially for the 2009 models but the sweet spot is large and I have seen the kids (four kids on our fall ball team have almost identical bats) that use it hit the ball harder and farther than with comperable bats.

Also, this isn't really for the casual player, although it will work well for them. If your kid just likes to play in the spring and doesn't really care THAT much for baseball then spend less on a more realistic bat. If he or she lives for the game then this is a nice bridge, cheaper than the 3-400 dollar bats yet much more complex (composite base, aluminum barrel) than a regular bat you will find at Walmart.

As manager of a little league team I like these bats. They are light enough for most players to bring it around quickly. They are a little less money than the Easton Stealth. I have one set to use in the batting cage and another set for the games. Ebay has made this possible by providing a source of economical great used bats.

DeMarini DXVNL Vexxum Youth Baseball Bat

This is an awesome bat overall. It is a little long considering the weight of 17.5. The -13 is alittle much for our son but he loves that it is so light. We do wish this bat came with the 2 5/8 barrel. If it did, it would be the abosolute perfect bat. I would highly recommend this bat to someone about 10-11 years old. Great warranty and wonderful construction. This bat is built to last.

Excellent product, If you don't think a bat makes a difference in hitting a baseball, you haven't hit with a Demarini.

We have this bat for half season now. It is a good bat and I love it. What I like:
1. The bat has longger barrel than most bats so I believe it has bigger sweet spot.
2. Its manufacturing quality looks pretty good.
3. I believe this bat has the right length and weight for my son (32-in, 21 Oz). (He used 29 in, 22 OZ Easton X-Treme before this. He had 3 home run at farmer while he was 7. He is twelve now.) I believe length-weight ratio is the most important factor in bat selection decison.

The only thing I don't like is the sound. It won't give you a bright and crispy sound when you hit at the sweet spot.

Unfortunately almost all my son's team mates use lighter bat (-13). My son borrowed Worth Copperhead (32 in, 19 Oz) in the first 2 weeks before he received this Vexxum. He had several home runs on the Copperhead in the practices but didn't do well with his Vexxum in the practice. He still wanted to use the lighter Worth Copperhead in the games. So I got him a lighter bat, 32-in-20-Oz Mattingly. Although the Mattingly has shorter barrel than Vexxum, my son got his home run again in the first practice and is willing to use his own Mattingly in the games.

If not considering the length-weight ratio, reliability and price, my preference would be Demarini Vexxum, then Copperhead and then Mattingly. So far there is no evidence to support Vexxum but we will continue the tests and see if Vexxum a better bat.
