This is the same machine that is sold at your local Starbucks. As a partner I have demonstrated this machine to many customers. I can not overemphasize this machines ease of use. It really is as simple as adding whole beans and pressing a button. This machine also offers a lot of customizability. Starting with the beans themselves, there is knob that allows you to set the grind. There are three types of shots you can pull. The difference being the amount of water forced through the grinds. Another added convince is a secondary hole to add coffee directly to the filter. The reason for this is that you can not easily empty the beans out of the hopper. Though what you add to the second hopper does need to be preground, it adds the ability to pull decaf shots while leaving the primary hopper full of caffinated beans. Clean up is made easy by a catch basket. Minor disassembly is needed to get to it but because of its size, could pull twenty plus shots before filling up. The steam wand is on par with most other machines. The biggest advantage is that it is designed to automatically froth the milk. If you have attempted this with other machines you'll understand the convenience. The one and only real drawback I have add with it is the size of the water tank. It is small and has to be completely removed to be filled up. Overall I would rate this machine as Excellent. Just remember to clean the machine, even the most expensive machine will make terrible espresso drinks if it is not properly cleaned.

I have been looking at purchasing a Super-Automatic Espresso Machine for a long time and have done a lot of research on what to look for in a machine. After being a loyal Starbucks's fan, I decided it was time to save big bucks and purchase my own machine. This particular model, according to Starbucks, is offered as a promotion between DeLonghi and Starbucks. It is not available for sale outside the Starbucks chain. Since it was on sale during Dec. 2006 for $300 off list price, I took advantage of the offer.
I love the ease of using this machine! This is my first ever adventure into the world of brewing my own espresso and I wanted the "no hassel" of an automatic. Aside from the small water tank capacity (keep in mind this is a home appliance) and the fact that I prefer my temperature hotter than most, I am thrilled with this machine. I have used the machine at least twice daily since my purchase mid Dec. 2006 (not quite a month) and have not experienced any problems! The bypass hopper, which uses ground coffee only, is great when desiring late night decaf beverages. I have made espressos, lattes, americanos, capuccinos, and macchiatos. The machine is self-rinsing upon start up and shut down which uses the water from your tank, but is worth the peace of mind knowing your machine is not sitting around with coffee oils building up in the lines. Well pleased with this machine, worth every penny so far!
