A beautiful children’s book with ideas and instructions for learning to make costumes. There are many helpful and colorful photographs showing all the steps for making the costumes and accessories, the materials needed, and all the finished projects. The are many good patterns for hats and masks, including a clown hat, a witches hat, a pirates hat, a masquerade piece, knight’s armor and accessories, crowns, beautiful and colorful crepe paper skirts, and jewelry made from cardboard shapes and gold or silver foil. Some of the character costumes included are a horse, a zebra, a pirate, a hula girl, a fairy princess and a knight.

The costumes begin with a basic pattern piece with suggestions for children to creatively add on pieces to make their own costume.

Most of the projects are made from simple and familiar materials like, recycled clothing articles, cardboard, paper, ribbon and fabric, and only a few require actual sewing to put them together. Older children can work on some of the projects themselves, and younger children would need help from an adult.
