Album Notes
Appendix Out includes: Ali Roberts.
Additional personnel includes: Kate Wright (vocals).
Although their name may deter some portion of their potential fanbase, Appendix Out's music is unspeakably gorgeous gentle acoustic guitar-pop/folk. It settles around you like a fine, bright mist. Though hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland, they sing with more of an American than Scots accent--no need for subtitles here, which is fortunate as the lyrics are a delight in their own right, reading like timeless forgotten poems.
Appendix Out's music, in contrast to their name, is simply beautiful. The group's second album continues in the tradition of its predecessor, combining Incredible String Band-influenced psych-folk with a lo-fi post-modernism that makes them sound perfectly at home amid such Drag City labelmates as Will Oldham and Smog.

Editorial Reviews
4 out of 5 - ...devastatingly troubled music that sticks in your mind long after the record has ended....Obsessed with decay and the cycle of life....[this] may be one of the saddest albums you'll hear this year.
Alternative Press (12/01/1999)

...barren mountain ballads and ship songs filled out with spectral harmonies and dislocated acoustic guitars....A forward looking, non-cliched folk album which still remains very much in the tradition.
The Wire (10/01/1999)

7 out of 10 - ...Appendix's impluses prove a point of grace. It's stark and moody, quiet and slow, with unexpected touches - female harmony vocals, recorder toots, and banjo plinks - that evoke a dippy north-country charm....Plaintive, but hardly plain.
