REMAKE FAILURE ALERT! ~ THE ORIGINAL REMAINS A CLASSIC

Not Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, nor the magnificent special effects of this new version can hold this one up! All the right ingredients are there. However, the script flip flops, there's no cohesiveness in this story. I could barely wait to see it end...
Klaatu (Reeves) arrives on this earth and his job is to decide how to save one of the few planets in the universe that sustains life. Our welcoming reception convinces him that humans are a liability. Therefore, he and his giant robot bodyguard, are ready to 'save the planet'.
Now, more than ever, this theme is resonant throught this world. When the original 1951 movie came out, us humans were not as aware of the damage we are inflicting on our environment. This movie had everything it needs to be a HIT. I can't help but wonder, how, when and why did it fail? It's not the first time I've been dissapointed with a remake, but this one particularly frustrates me because it had the potential to send a vital message to us all...
