Zombies in a shopping mall!?! Think that Sounds dumb? You're right. Call it a sequel and you can get people to pay to see this tripe.

This is the remake of dawn of the dead and rates right up there with the original. The zombies are able to run in this one which makes it even harder to avoid them. the make up is good as is the special effects. It is quite a bit different then the original with more meaningful plot and characters. Lots of action and zombies.

This is my favorite all time favorite zombie movie.A lot of action for a horror movie.The zombies dont walk they run.They run in 28 days later but theirs not alot of dialog like in 28 days later.I also like the charactors cj was a cool charactor.

I don't watch horror movies - it just isn't something I normally do. But, I got dared into it by a friend, and I rarely turn down a dare (especially over a MOVIE!). So, I picked out one to watch (this one), barricaded the front door, got a blanket to hide under, and sat down to it.

I was really surprised at how quickly they jumped into gore - I figured there'd be more of a lead-in, getting to know your characters, etc. It worked though, so no problems there.

I haven't seen the original, so can't compare it to that. The gore factor was high, and very well done from my vantage point. I almost wet myself multiple times, had a high heart rate for the rest and was very glad when it was over, and I could say I had watched it.

I made use of the blanket, though thankfully I hadn't needed the barricade at the front door. =) I would most likely watch this again, as I now know where the suprise parts are, and could try and focus on more of the story, instead of trying to predict where the gross parts were so I could be hiding. (I did a very bad job of that, by the way.)

Oh, and the couple of seconds of the baby - REALLY creeped me out!!

This is my favorite zombie flick ever.Great story,characters and gore.The zombies are fast and the outbreak occures even faster.
what can be scarier than going to bed and everything is normanl,being safe in you're home,only to awake and find the neibor girl standing in the hallway with part of her face missing.This is some scary stuff.

OK, I know a lot of zombie afficiandos are die hard George Romero old school fans and like the original(s). I do too, but this version has very cool firearms action, nice bite scenes, a gory birth/baby scene and Ving Rhames adds to the really adds depth and interest to the cast of characters as a soured LAPD officer. I always liked the hiding out in the mall setting and the scene where "Andy" is shooting at the heads of zombies that look like stars is great! The zombies are fast enough to make it interesting and scary, not as slow as the zombies in Resident Evil, but not as fast as the ones in I am Legend, a nice compromise that lends to the suspense of them coming at you, but does not leave you thinking that you can never escape them. The clips of the survivors on the boat during the credits are good and the music that features tunes by Distubed is wicked. If you are a horror film or zombie fan, you definitely need this one in your collection!

Now, you notice I didn't give this 5 stars...by the nature of the zombie film genre, no zombie movie will ever win an Academy Award! But judged against other zombie films, this is definitely one of the best. Viewers seem divided into two factions --- shuffling zombies VS running zombies --- and this movie is a good compromise. Yes, the zombies run, which makes them scarier and more dangerous. After all, if a zombie can only move at a snail's pace, it doesn't matter how gross it looks, just run away! On the other hand, if we get zombies leaping all over the place and running at lightspeed (like the remake of DAY OF THE DEAD), it's futile to even TRY and run. The remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD shows zombies that can run at about 50 MPH. Yes, that's fast, but if you can get to a car, you can outdistance them --- which leaves at least hope of survival. Also, once the zombie horde surrounds the mall, speed becomes a non-issue because they are packed so tighly into the streets that there isn't room for running. The non-zombie characters in this film were well drawn, with the acting ability above average for a horror film. Ving Rhames, Sara Polley, & Jake Weber are especially compelling. It made sense to hole up in a mall, where food & clothing are available; it bothered me that in other zombie movies, the zombies are apparently the only ones who have to eat! The humans even mentioned using the restroom. I questioned the immediate killing of the zombie baby; after all, she was just lying there, not biting anyone; I would have been curious to see if a newborn zombie could be tamed or trained. But then, the people in this movie weren't scientists studying the zombie virus, they were just ordinary people making some hard choices in order to survive. I highly recommend this film if you like zombies or survival stories.

I've always been one of those guys who bad mouths remakes and sequels of horror films because they generally lack anything watchable. The first time I watched this film, I went into it much the same way. However, I was quite surprised. Now, granted, it's not the greatest horror flick ever made, but Dawn of the Dead's remake is actually pretty decent. They keep the story simple and add just enough gore to make things slasher-esque without going over the top. Some of the characters are totally plastic and generic, but in a movie like this, it works out well. Good pacing and simple story made for a very good quality zombie film. Plus, nowadays, zombies don't just mindlessly wander around in slo-mo. These zombies can f***in' move!!!

This movie was good. Definitely a few edge of your seat moments. I could have done without the baby part (don't want to give too much away!) Also, I would have liked a little bit of a better ending. All in all, it was a good movie. Well worth the bargain price I paid. I'm sure I'll be watching it again.

good horror movie in all aspects. Good gore, good story, good character development, and good violence.

This movie is by far one of the best, if not -the- best zombie movie out there. Make sure to pick up the directors cut. The special features only add to the apocalyptic world into which you are thrown.

If you like the "F" word said about 40 times , you will love this movie.
Overall it is not worth watching. A waste of money

Although I never liked the idea of remakes some are growing to me. It's nice to see some movies rebooted some decades later. This movie was more of an original story line with similar settings used in the Romero film. I enjoyed watching this and easily can be one of my favorite zombie movies. One thing I would have liked would be the slow, non running zombies. Zombies are the walking dead, why should they have abilities to run? In any case most modern zombie movies feature the new fast zombies so it's something to get used to. Check this one out!

I don't like but Love This movie. Dawn of the Dead, which I bought on DVD here, was at great value. There is nothing I would dislike about what I buy, and I'm not gonna dislike anything on Ebay except certain prices and how the seller treats a buyer.

If you enjoy Ramero's brand of horror movies, you'll love this. A current version of the Living Dead in a way. The FX are decent and realistic. It's not the most frightening movie in the world but close.

OK I HAVE WATCHED EVER ZOMBIE MOVIE THERE IS AND I HAVE TO SAY, FOR A REMAKE, THEY DID IT JUSTICE, NOONE WANTS TO SEE THE SAME EXACT THING MADE OVER! THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE AWESOME THE ZOMBIES ARE TERRYFING, YOU ALWAYS HAVE ONE PRICK IN THE MOVIE THAT YOU HOPE DIES FAST OR CHANGES HIS ATTTIUDE, THE MUSIC IS AWESOME, THE PARTS THAT STICK THE MOST IS THE WOMAN THAT IS PREGNANT, AND REMEMBER, WHEN THE MOVIE IS ENDING, DO NOT STOP, THERE IS MORE!!!!! BUY IT! AWESOME!!

Great special effects. Good shoot-em-up scenes. GREAT zombie attack scenes. I bought this because I love this type of movie, and this one delivers what I want to see. Lots of blood curdling, gruesome zombie killing!!!!!

How do you remake a classic??? Difficult task, but in 2004 Dawn of the Dead was remade and brilliantly I might add. Once again you've got the rise of the undead, a shopping mall, and a group of hapless survivors trying to keep themselves alive. What this makes for is a wonderful take on an old tale. Definitely a must for any horror movie collection.

This was actually a decent remake. I can watch this one more than once. It's not that it was a complex movie- it is a pretty basic premise. But it is well made and actually kind of scary.

This remake is one of the best most realistic scinerio types for the story stituation ever made. The special features & deleted scenes are chilling. Of all the horror movies ever made this one is in the top 5 percent. Highly recommended.
