There are some people out there who hate the Dawn of the Dead remake. I'm not one of them. I think this is one of the greatest zombie films to hit the big screen since the 1980s. To see it in a double pack with the ever so funny Shaun of the Dead is all the better.

I am a huge fan of Romero's living dead series and was hesitant to the idea of a remake. I also love a good horror spoof - operative word being "good" -, so many directors try and fail miserably. So when Shaun of the Dead came out I was, again, hesitant.
Those fears were unwarranted. Not saying that the new Dawn of the Dead is equal or better than the original - they are different. The only things they have in common is that there are zombies and survivors go to a mall for refuge. Liked the acting, liked the effects and makeup, there were a couple of inconsistencies in the film but whatever.
Shaun of the Dead was brilliant! Original for a spoof, very funny and smart. Actors are great.
Both movies are a must for horror fans. And if you are a zombie fan - why do you not own this already?
