"Dawn of the Ebay Deadbeats" is a collection of eBayanic cautionary tales that might equally well have been titled "Dawn Of The eBay Brain-Dead". Why? Because in many cases, buyers brought their problems upon themselves.
For example, as sorry as you might feel for the trucker whose would-be new truck investment vaporized in a cloud of deceit, would YOU wire $30,000 cash to a complete stranger? And don't even get me started on the doctor who thought he'd gotten a steal on a new car, only to find out he'd been stolen from instead. Doctors are notorious for bad financial decisions, and this guy was no exception to that rule. The worst part was that he borrowed the money from his dad, who was a doctor too.
Let's review the lessons learned by the end of this book. They include these simple facts: There is no such thing as eBay Escrow. eBay does NOT have a warehouse -- nor do they act as middleman in any transaction; eBay is just a marketplace platform. Last but not least, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
Cynicism aside, "Dawn of the Ebay Deadbeats" is a well written and very entertaining read. Why not buy your copy on eBay? You might even score an autographed copy, like I did!
