Playwright David Talbert has become well known for his inspirational, Gospel-music infused dramas featuring primarily African-American casts. This collection gathers three of his popular stage productions.

This release captures a live performance with all the immediacy that comes with the theatrical experience. Dominique and Blair are a young couple on their way up the ladder of wealth and social status. But when Dominique meets Joshua, a handsome working man, she falls for him, and must make a choice between the comfort and money represented by Blair, and the romantic ideal Joshua could be. THE FABRIC OF A MAN is a romance that combines good-natured comedy and life-affirming drama with Gospel music written by award-winning composer Brent Jones.
HE SAY, SHE SAY BUT WHAT DOES GOD SAY?: One of Talbert's first hits, this play is set in one of Detroit's toughest neighborhoods. When a small church finds itself stuck next door to a nightclub frequented by hustlers, pimps, and gangsters, both the church's congregation and the club's dangerous owners decide to try and rid the neighborhood of the other, leading to a series of tense confrontations. The production is part of the inspirational Soul Theatre series, and was even adapted as a short-lived television series, named GOOD NEWS.
LOVE ON LAYAWAY: David E. Talbert's portrayals of the trials of contemporary love have earned him numerous NAACP Awards, smash hits, and a place in hearts all across America. This story centers on three couples living in a brownstone in Philadelphia and attempting to navigate the vicissitudes of life, love, and spirituality.
