As one of the finalists on the fifth season of the AMERICAN IDOL reality-TV show, North Carolina-based neo-grunge vocalist Chris Daughtry garnered even more attention by getting asked to be the frontman for the group Fuel, and then, surprisingly, declining the offer. This 2006 album, technically credited to the band Daughtry, reveals what the singer opted for instead, offering up impressively catchy, yet requisitely brooding, heavy rock, as best revealed on the emotive "It's Not Over" and the urgent "What I Want," which features former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash.
