Description
On the eve of his 21st birthday, fearless mafia hitman Jackie Estacado is suddenly possessed by the terrifying and spectacular powers of The Darkness. Though his supernatural entity lets him wreak terrible havoc on his enemies, the Darkness also has a strong will of its own and now Jackie must learn how to control it. Gameplay features include a seamless and unique blend of modern crime drama and supernatural horror with both first and third person non-linear progression, ad well as highly destructible environments that enable players to stalk the gritty New York slums, harbors, subway tunnels and rooftops, then defeat the terrifying creatures of The Otherworld-a parallel reality where the Darkness dwells.

Special Features
  • Varying manifestations of the Darkness allow you to devour, impale or implode your enemies. Use the Darkness to toss huge objects like cars around as though they were toys.
  • Cannibalize your victims – Slay your enemies and command the Darkness to eat their hearts to increase your strength and power
  • The light is your enemy – Extinguish any light in your path and seek the shadows wherever possible in order to feed and replenish the Darkness
  • Summon Darklings, impish and humorous demons, to do your bidding and eviscerate your foes.
  • Insane multiplayer – Shapeshift between Darkling and Human in online multiplayer games and face other players in traditional multiplayer modes as well as all-new innovative game modes.
  • Diverse voice talent – An all-star cast adds authenticity to the characters and credibility to the overall cinematic experience, including Kirk Acevedo (Oz, Band of Brothers) as Jackie Estacado, Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) as Jenny Romano, and Mike Patton (Faith No More, Peeping Tom) as the voice of The Darkness
  • In-game television – Watch select shows in their entirety, including everything from Nosferatu to Popeye. Players can also tune into breaking news that directly relates to the storyline

The Darkness - Best game on PS3 yet
      Review created: 07/12/07

The darkness is by far the best PS3 game released yet. I admit I'm not a big sports fan so that eliminates a few of the big hits, and Oblivion was nothing short of amazing, but in short, I bought my PS3 in early December and the hot games released have been far and few between. Resistance: Fall of Man was awesome, without out a doubt, but it is yet another first person shooter. Oblivion was a GREAT roll-playing game, but I've had it on PC for almost a year so it’s nothing new. There were a few movie games that had a few hours of game play, but nothing came close to the over-all quality coming with The Darkness. Not only does the game grab you out of your seat like a super-sonic roller coaster, but it keeps you hooked with no stop action and PS3 deserving game-play. Throughout the game the unbelievable graphics and heart-pounding storyline keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you begging for more. If there’s one undeniable must-buy for PS3, or even Xbox 360, it is undeniably The Darkness.
