Dark Shadows - The Beginning Episodes 1-35 (DVD, 2007, 4-Disc Set)

Dark Shadows-The beginning Episodes 1-35 is a chance to see the series pre-Barnabas episodes. The origin of the series was a dream creator Dan Curtis had one night about a young woman traveling to a gothic old New England mansion on the east coast. The woman turned out to be Victoria Winters played by Alexandra Moltke. The early Dark Shadows are more Gothic suspence but little by little supernatural elements were added. These episodes are worth collecting to to see more of the beautiful Alexandra Moltke-whose character Victoria Winters-was the focal point of the of the show's beginnings. Not to be missed is the Laura Collins the Phoenix suberbly played by Diana Millay-who is introduced later on in the series.

Now put into DVD format is the Begining Series of Dark Shadows (Pre-Barnabas) soap opera. It is great that it is now available this way because it saves space in your home! Rather than all those VHS cluttering around you now have a neat way of pulling this out around Halloween and enjoy a timeless classic anytime you want! You get to know what the series was like before Dan Curtis stuck in Jonathan Frid as the 200 year old romantically tortured soul! Get the next series and you will see the introduction of Barnabas!

interested in watching the complete series-- funny to watch the props come down as they perform --it is a good series to watch for the time that it came out --1966

I bought this set as an for my wife for our anniversary at the end of October, and haven't opened it yet. It was prompty delivered and there were no defects that I could see upon inspection.

This is the first time I have seen Dark Shadows, ever. My wife asked me to order this set so she could see it again; and I watched the program with her so we could spend the time together. However, I am hooked!

Although the acting is a little primitive and choppy at the beginning, by the end of episode 35 I was engrossed in the plot and we agreed to purchase the next 4 DVD sets (e.g., Dark Shadows, The Beginning # 2, Dark Shadows, The Beginning # 3, Dark Shadows, The Beginning # 4, and Dark Shadows, The Beginning # 5.

We highly recommend this series.

I remember watching this when I was not yet even 6 years old! Its great to find in on DVD and to find the DVDs on eBay! My seller has the best price and they are fast at leaving feedback. Shipping is free and media mail, but you can order overnight if you want it that badly!
The back story before Barnabus gets there is very important I think to the charactor developement. I'm enjoying watching from the beginning!

A show I loved as a kid and being able to watch it again after all these years!...FANTASTIC! Too bad that it can only be found online. No stores that I have found have it in stock. If it were available in stores, I am sure more would buy it.

I used to watch this as a kid, I have been watching a episode a night of the remake in the 90's. However, nothing can compare to the original. I was in love with Barnabas Collins !! I plan on having my sisters over for a Dark Shadows weekend and celebrate with watching all the episodes. Thanks

I watched this when I was a very small child and when I came home from kindergarden. I liked it a lot back then and I love it even more now that I can start watching it from the beginning and when I have time! This is a must have for anyone who watched Dark Shadows as a child or anyone who likes Soaps in general! LOVE IT!!!

It is exactly like the show I watched as a kid and has all of these wonderful extras about the show and the people in the cast.

My mother watched Dark Shadows when I was a kid. When I was home from school sick, I would watch it with her. I love watching it. I always wanted to know the whole story of this program.
