The Best Batman and comic hero movie of all time. The Dark Knight makes the 1989 Batman version look like a foolish cartoon. Thanks to Christopher Nolan for making Batman what it really deserves to be A GREAT MOVIE EXPERIENCE.

The movie is great from start to finish. Heath Ledger is amazing as is Christian Bale. If you like the original Batman movies, this one takes the franchise to a whole new level. Nolan's influence on The Dark Knight and even Batman Begins is fantastic.

  WOW What a Movie

Batman (Bale) is back and with the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. A new criminal known as the Joker (Ledger) is out to make sure that doesn’t happen at any price.
This movie is not for kids. This is dark and scary and almost deserves an R rating. Everyone else should see it, especially fans of Chicago since the city looks amazing as the fictitious Gotham.
Heath Ledger as The Joker: It’s done. Best. Superhero. Villain. Ever. I can’t believe we have been given another great evil character this closely after Anton Chigurh and Billy Mitchell. Once the Joker makes a pencil disappear he’s got you entertained in his clutches. There are tiny moments, like when he grabs a drink at Dent’s fundraiser, that every actor should study. Without a doubt, Ledger will win Best Supporting Actor for the Oscars.
Amazing creation! You need this to make your DVD collection pretty.

This will be a memorable movie because it was Heath's last and his joker was so far out there from anything he had ever done before. I think that is what made his performance so disturbing and captivating. The whole movie was able to hold up to the hype though...the effects are awesome.

Over rated, Over hyped, & BORING!!!!

This has to be as bad of a Batman movie since Val Kilmar or George Clooney played Batman okay. The movie is over hyped and too long 1st of all.
The guy who plays Batman now is more comfortable in the role. They hardly even show Joker in the whole film.
Don't get me wrong Heath Ledger was a great actor but if he didn't die this movie would have gotten the worse reviews. I don't see how he was so scary or psycho in anyway to push him over the edge. You expect something twisted & sick but nothing. I took it out of my DVD player and I don't even drink but choice to have a few that night & even drunk or drinking it was boring.
Now that is a terrible movie. I didn't see Brandon Lee getting even mention for an award an him in the crow was more believable the Ledger doing Joker.
He died at the end of that film and till this day " The Crow " is classic.
As a Batman fan it sucks save your money don't buy it , rent at the most like me, & my both of their souls R.I.P
I only gave it a below average because of the graphics other then that it would have been Poor.
That's my opinion " onemixer "

I absolutely LOVE this movie. It was so worth the wait and it's just a shame that the world of film lost Heath Ledger because he surely made being a "bad guy" a big shoe to fill for the next character to enter into the Batman movies.

I purchased this for our home in Northern PA that doesn't have cable but we have a DVD player so it's so worth having a movie that will surely become a classic.

  Best...Comic...Movie...EVER.
Review created: 11/29/08

The Dark Knight is stunning, in every sense the word. Whether you look at the acting, the directing, the writing, or any other aspect of the movie, it's hard to find a weak point.

Nolan returns to do another incredible job at directing, and once again raises the bar for the Batman series. He creates a perfect balance between having The Dark Knight be a drama about the characters in it and an action-packed crime saga.

The acting alone is terrific. Christian Bale is a natural as Bruce Wayne, and also makes the best Batman I've seen yet, and by his side is Michael Caine, who just seems to fit perfectly as Alfred. Maggie Gyllenhaal does quite well as Rachel and Aaron Eckhart pulls off the transformation from Harvey Dent to Two-Face. Gary Oldman playing Gordon deserves an honorable mention. And then there's Heath Ledger, whose performance alone is nothing short of amazing. A few years ago most people would've said that he would be best known for and remembered by his starring role in Brokeback Mountain. Not anymore.

There's a constant internal struggle for Bruce Wayne, who does all he can to keep the difference between himself and Batman, and the difference between what is right and what has to be done. And all the while chaos reigns in the streets of Gotham, compliments of the Joker, who seems to be the one man who can bring down Batman.

All in all, there is nothing disappointing about The Dark Knight. For a movie that's two and a half hours long, there isn't a dull moment. Living up to the expectations and hype seemed impossible for it to do, but somehow The Dark Knight not only does, but surpasses it.

  A Legend in FIlm, Forever
Review created: 06/02/09

The Batman Begins (2005) sequel is easily the best comic-based action movie yet (2008). The Dark Knight is unstoppable in it's path of destructing all crime-thriller flicks before it; raising the bar very, very high. The two and-a-half hour runtime glorify the fact that you could split the movie into two amazing films rather than one legend (which it is) and still be satisfied to an extreme extent. Heath Ledger's surprising death is truly unfortunate but his final performance is without a hesitation worthy of 2008's Oscar award, closing the doors to all contesting actors starring aft The Dark Knight's release. Ledger's outstanding achievement that no one expected is one of the best acts I have ever experienced in the thousands of films I have seen.

Overall, the action packed scenes were original and incomparable. All the right explosions and fights hit hard right and left, perfect on cue every time. Director Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins) is finally the first to really step up the graphic features of Batman's truly dark life and the absolute real ruthlessness of his villains so much that, even though the content wasn't threatening, the rating is a very strong PG-13 (Where I would not recommend anyone under the age to view, unlike it's predecessor, Batman Begins). Supporting performances by Bale, Caine, Eckhart, and Oldman were unmistakably beautiful additions to the masterpiece cast. Even Katie Holmes filler (Rachael Dawes, Batman Begins) Maggie Gyllenhaal pulled off quite nicely in a "better than before" respect. The Dark Knight was rightfully hyped up since it's announcement. The release has created an easy out for the perfect score of a movie for those who seem yet convinced of such thing. The soundtrack was superb, the script unprecedented in intelligence and wit, and by far the creativity and ingenuity behind the incredulous scenes of exotic sports cars weaving traffic, semi trucks flipping in the air, and state-of-the-art technology, has beat anything before it.

The Dark Knight stands as a mind blowing testimony that DC Comics has not been shut in the dark by Marvel's many pumped out mediocre movies (3 Spider-Man films, 2 Hulk films, 2 Fantastic Four films, 3 X-Men films for starters, in one decade). DC Comics Delivers the good in their 2008 blockbuster that hit so hard, none of Marvels twenty-plus movies can come close to touching. The Dark Knight will be on movie lover's top favorites for a very, very long time

Best Picture 2008 - The Dark Knight
Review created: 01/25/09
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

You do not go in to this movie expecting a heart-wrenching love story. You do not sit down with your popcorn and soda expecting to be so shocked that you have to put your hands over your mouth so as not to annoy the movie goers near you in the sold out theatre. You do not pay 12 dollars feeling like the ticket should have cost more. Don't feel bad, it's not your fault.

Beautiful becomes synonymous with Dark from minute one all the way to minute 183.

Batman and Bruce Wayne. They become different characters and you really do believe that Bruce is fooling the public, unlike most Superman movies where you continuously ask yourself, "Do they really not know it’s him? I mean, it's just glasses, he even talks the same!"

The Joker. Remember what it was like to be deathly afraid of clowns when you were a child? It's just like that. If that wasn't you, go see the movie and you'll know right away.

Harvey Dent. Outstanding as a lawyer and even better as a man who is torn to pieces. Ugly, ugly pieces. He did everything he was made for and so much more, becoming a driving force behind Gotham, inspiring its masses and securing its walls.

Rachael Dawes. She makes Love her and it rewards you with intensity and heart shattering accuracy. As another knight once said, she is the arrow.

The Dark Knight is, in a word, perfection.

It displays purpose, passion and purity in character development, direction, entertainment and artistry. It is well edited yet long and exhaustive. It tells the story in great detail yet it never bores. Most importantly, you leave the theatre fully satisfied and yet still wanting more. Again, give it to me again. Don't make me leave. I can fit another viewing in before work at 7:30 right?

It is more than a movie, it is an achievement. It is a collaboration of sounds, sights and emotions that tip the scales, outweighing all others. If it receives no awards, no nominations, no stars on the Hollywood walk of fame, it will still sit high above, a benchmark for the movie industry and for all in film that come after it. Do not sleep on the Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight (2008 Bluray DVD)
Review created: 01/23/09
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The Dark Knight arrives with tremendous hype (best superhero movie ever? posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger?), and incredibly, it lives up to all of it. But calling it the best superhero movie ever seems like faint praise, since part of what makes the movie great--in addition to pitch-perfect casting, outstanding writing, and a compelling vision--is that it bypasses the normal fantasy element of the superhero genre and makes it all terrifyingly real. Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is Gotham City's new district attorney, charged with cleaning up the crime rings that have paralyzed the city. He enters an uneasy alliance with the young police lieutenant, Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), and Batman (Christian Bale), the caped vigilante who seems to trust only Gordon--and whom only Gordon seems to trust. They make progress until a psychotic and deadly new player enters the game: the Joker (Heath Ledger), who offers the crime bosses a solution--kill the Batman. Further complicating matters is that Dent is now dating Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal, after Katie Holmes turned down the chance to reprise her role), the longtime love of Batman's alter ego, Bruce Wayne.

In his last completed role before his tragic death, Ledger is fantastic as the Joker, a volcanic, truly frightening force of evil. And he sets the tone of the movie: the world is a dark, dangerous place where there are no easy choices. Eckhart and Oldman also shine, but as good as Bale is, his character turns out rather bland in comparison (not uncommon for heroes facing more colorful villains). Director-cowriter Christopher Nolan (Memento) follows his critically acclaimed Batman Begins with an even better sequel that sets itself apart from notable superhero movies like Spider-Man 2 and Iron Man because of its sheer emotional impact and striking sense of realism--there are no suspension-of-disbelief superpowers here. At 152 minutes, it's a shade too long, and it's much too intense for kids. But for most movie fans--and not just superhero fans--The Dark Knight is a film for the ages.

I really like the movie and needed to get it for my friend. I purchased a bootleg copy for my friend in New York and it did not work, so I decided to buy it online instead. I am excited to say that the dvd works better than I expected. I did have trouble with trying to take off the subtitles, but the quality of the dvd overall was great and I feel that others should purchase dvds from this seller as well.

The Dark Knight (2008) Why So Serious?
Review created: 01/12/09

Now that's what I call a Batman Movie! Well, to be honest, mostly all of the Batman movies are a very good watch and buy. It's one of the comics that were made into movies that were always made well I find. I guess the budget seems to be more because of the investors and success of the comic series. This movie is packed with action, humor and love. The closest you will ever get to a comic/movie that has similar dialogue.

Bruce Wayne (Batman) is in love with Maggie Gyllenhaal (Rachel Daws) and at the same time, Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent/Two Faced) is in love with her at the same time. Not only does this movie have Two Faced, but has one of the best actors of all time Heath Ledger (Joker), that played his role fantastically. All the actors in the movie make the movie come to real life. Just like all the Batmans, he must fight the war on Crime, while Joker and his minions get in the way of everything. This movie is definitely worth a watch and a buy at any price. Thanks for reading my review!

Well,
You've heard all the hype...the truth is: It delivers!
Besides the over-hyped Joker of Heath Ledger this is a great action movie with deep, complex characters (not only Bruce Wayne/Batman), and the action is great!
Would the hype about The Joker be so hugh if not for the untimely death of this fine young actor, probably not: I personally didn't find it scary nor earth shattering acting, but a fine job done!
