The Dark Knight (Blu-ray Disc, 2008, Gift Box)

Funny that this was the first Batman feature film that doesn't incorporate the word "Batman" in its title. This Boxset will not disappoint the Batman enthusiast at all.

There never has been a more exciting time in my life when The Dark Knight showed up at the Box Office. I paid my ticket and then sat back and enjoyed the film better than ever. The reason I enjoyed this movie so much was that, before now, the Batman series of films seemed much more comic book than mimicking real life. The Dark Knight seems to somehow capture the essence that should always exist in the handover from comics to the big screen.

Christian Bale really didn't carry this film to greatness; it was The Joker (Heath Ledger) who made the film extraordinarily real in the sense that the criminal elements came together and alive on film with a burst of originality.

Bruce Wayne, who poses as a rich industrialist, sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets by creating his own persona known as Batman. Since we already know his intent from the last Film "Batman Begins", we pick up where the story left off in hopes that his complex plans will lead him down the road to success. Little do we know that The Joker will step into his life and thwart many of his plans to once and for all, rid Gotham City of the Low Life Scum that controls its underground.

Gotham City's District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) has the best line in the movie, which said, "You die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain."

For the first time in feature film-making, IMAX cameras were utilized. Christopher Nolan had wanted to shoot in the IMAX format for years and wound up doing so. Six major action-heavy sequences, along with various high-altitude shots, were filmed on the IMAX ratio. These sequences are available on the Bonus Disc of the 2-Disc DVD Edition.

The Dark Knight is stunning, in every sense the word. Whether you look at the acting, the directing, the writing, or any other aspect of the movie, it's hard to find a weak point.

Nolan returns to do another incredible job at directing, and once again raises the bar for the Batman series. He creates a perfect balance between having The Dark Knight be a drama about the characters in it and an action-packed crime saga.

The acting alone is terrific. Christian Bale is a natural as Bruce Wayne, and also makes the best Batman I've seen yet, and by his side is Michael Caine, who just seems to fit perfectly as Alfred. Maggie Gyllenhaal does quite well as Rachel and Aaron Eckhart pulls off the transformation from Harvey Dent to Two-Face. Gary Oldman playing Gordon deserves an honorable mention. And then there's Heath Ledger, whose performance alone is nothing short of amazing. A few years ago most people would've said that he would be best known for and remembered by his starring role in Brokeback Mountain. Not anymore.

There's a constant internal struggle for Bruce Wayne, who does all he can to keep the difference between himself and Batman, and the difference between what is right and what has to be done. And all the while chaos reigns in the streets of Gotham, compliments of the Joker, who seems to be the one man who can bring down Batman.

All in all, there is nothing disappointing about The Dark Knight. For a movie that's two and a half hours long, there isn't a dull moment. Living up to the expectations and hype seemed impossible for it to do, but somehow The Dark Knight not only does, but surpasses it.

This is like no other "Batman" Show or movie that you have ever seen. The murder the mham and worst of all, the like of funny in this movie. You learn a little more about Bruce Wayne and his fight training and there is no Robin sidekick and Joker is out to and does kill people while looking scary to do it. If an Adult liked Batman and wished he would do more than the Batman's before this show, then this show is for you. I bought this movie for one of my grandchildren I was totally blow away with all the valance in this show. I rate it poor for them taking advantage of Batman's good name and then "dragging it to hell". Go to bed, this movie is a waist of time.

This was an excellent item due to it being New and still Sealed. It did show just a touch of scuffing from handling but for the cost and what you received it was GREAT! I recently purchased a PS3 so I have just started my Blu-Ray collection and since I didn't get to purchase this when it was out at the store it was nice to be able to get it now.

The Dark Knight finally got Batman right.I really loved this movie.It treated the characters,etc. like a real movie,not a "comic book" movie.This is what I have been waiting for in a Batman film (which was started wonderfully in Batman Begins).Look,to be honest I like all things Batman.From the serials,the campy tv show and movie to cartoons,and Tim Burton's fantastic two movies.I even found something to like in Batman Forever and Batman and Robin(not very much,but something).But The Dark Knight is how Batman should be in my opinion.Dark and more serious.As for the Jokers.Jack was fabulous,but Heath is what the Joker should be.A murderous,cold insane person who thinks life is a joke,and murder and mayhem is the punch line.No rules,no sympathy.True,I wished he had turned into the Joker instead of just wearing make-up,but that did not take away from the performance.I smiled many times when watching this movie,because so many things where how I wanted a Batman movie to be.Could watch this movie everyday.I can't wait for another one.
I bought this edition for the collectible batpod.It has not been opened,and never will be(at least by me).Sitting nicely on a shelf in my Batman collection room.

This one was a collector's edition if that means any more. This movie has great home theater sound effects. it will be a joy to own and watch over and over as friends come over so I can show off my home theater. Got it for a great price on E-bay.

I have to be honest to you first. I am biased about this movie because I am a huge batman fan. However I am going to tell you the facts and make some recommendations about this movie.

First off this movie was extremely well made. Christopher Nolan did an excellent job capturing the conflict between good and evil while helping us look at the ethics of life. The movie starts where Batman Begins left off with Gotham City being cleaned up little by little. The criminals are starting to realize that the law is no enforceable and are starting to have fear of being caught. The Joker then shows up stating that the criminals need to take back what was once theirs and so the fight between good and evil ensues.

Heath Ledger did an excellent job playing the joker. He was able to show us the criminal mind through his thoughts, actions, and ideas. However due to the nature of his character he does come off a little disturbing and dark. I would not recommend any young children watching this movie because these scenes are intense yet realistic of the psychotic mind.

Watching this movie on Blu-ray is a must. You are able to see the scenes in more detail and fully appreciate the few scenes shot with imax film.

I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of superheroes, action movies, or even suspense. Expect an excellent 2 1/2 movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat with nonstop action and thrill. All of this combined with Blu-ray makes for a movie you will watch for years.
