This is what Robert Parker's dtective novels were like before he became famous and short on detail. This is a tightly written first novel about lawyer Scott Finn and detective Linda Flaherty; when his former lover and law firm colleague, Natalie, is found murdered in a grisly fashion, the police think it is another serial murder by "Little Jack". But Flaherty's investigation points in another direction and Finn is suddenly defending himself and dealing with the dark side of Boston. From the state house to the sinister streets of his youth, Finn needs to find his enemy and Natalie's killer.
Ripe with Boston detail and sharp with texture, this book is a sleep-robber!
