T-mobile: first this is not the best company for tech support (Reset the device, that don't work we'll send you out a new one).. Here in Tucson AZ, if you live on the outer rim of Tucson, forget the signal.. its gone. While in Tucson, the calls would drop.
Sidekick: I bought my Sidekick BRANDNEW! I got the horrible contract with it too. one month of light usage, the scroll wheel broke. Nice enough they replaced it with a "refurbished" unit. The second one kept rebooting for no reason. The third one I got, the function buttons were so stiff that they would not click. By the 4th one T-mobile was even telling me they were a piece of junk that I would continue to have this problem and that I should upgrade to a Black Berry or palm. I just gave up with T-mobile and there Sidekick.
