Sidekick 3 is an Execllent Upgrade from Sidekick II
Review created: 07/05/06(updated 07/07/06)
169 of 190 people found this review helpful.

As a sidekick II fanatic, I highly recommend the new sidekick 3. The sidekick 3 has some really cool new features. The first thing that I really really like is the trackball, The trackball lights up lots of different colors based on what you are doing (a nice touch). Second, the sidekick 3 is a lot smaller. While the measurements on paper dont really show that much of a difference, that small amount does a lot when it is in your hands or in your pocket. Third, i really like the new design. Instead of looking like some gadget that would belong to a 11-year-old-girl, it looks professional and high tech. But the best thing about it is that it still retains it simplicity and irresistable urge to flip that amazing lcd screen. This new sidekick is an excellent upgrade and is worth 110% of the money. It comes with a lot more accessories than the sidekick II and is a lot faster at everything. T-mobile is one of the main reasons that the sidekicks do well. I have BOTH verizon and t-mobile, two of the best customer service/cellular companies anywhere. I always have great service and the customer service I received from t-mobile was the main reason i got a contract with a different company other than verizon. The sidekick and t-mobile together really make a great team. Go out and get one now! The longer you wait, the longer it will take for you to get one because these are going to be the HOTTEST selling phones on the market and will most definately go on back order very soon if they have not already. Thanks and I hope this is useful.

This phone had soooo much hype...everyone thought it was the Next Big Thing...and it really isn't...

Don't get me wrong...its amazing, especially if you have never owned a Sidekick 1 Color or Sidekick 2...But for those who have...its a let down.

Pros:
Camera is more pixels...but you can't really tell.
Bluetooth
MP3 player
More than 1 messanger program
Trackball
A little slimmer
Internet is a little faster

Cons:
Feels cheap
Screen can get stuck on the D-pad sometimes
Hassle going to AIM now, now you have to scroll between 3 messanger programs
Screen still sucks
Keypad is plastic, so u cant grip it well
smaller buttons
No video
Too many restrictions from T-Mobile
Worse Reception than the Sk2

Hopefully the CONS will be fixed with an OTA update...if not...well people that paid 400-600.00 for it, like me...are screwed.

AMAZING !! But Dont Pay More Than $5

This is a great product! But it can be expensive! I'm glad I found www.ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk where I got mine for free :)

All I did was sign up and then completed ONE offer. I recommend the Intuit 30 day FREE trial ,OR the Seattle Coffeeoffer as it is FREE to complete and takes a few minutes!

There are many alternative offers you can complete such as the King.com offer where you have play through $5. There is a chance you will win your money back anyway!

There are many other gadgets I can get for free this way, such as consoles, iPhones, iPods, Plasma TV's and the list goes on

Visit: www.ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk

before you think about putting your hands into your pocket for this gadget.

The site can afford to send out these "free" gifts because you have to complete an offer first. They get paid commission when me and you do so, which is used to buy the gift with money left over as profit for them!

I hope you enjoy the extra $$$'s saved in your bank account from using ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk :)

T-Mobile Sidekick 3 (T-mobile) Theft Report When BUYING
Review created: 09/09/06
18 of 20 people found this review helpful.

The Sidekick 3's are some of the hottest items on the market. There are alot of negative aspects when buying them and here are some ways for you to watch out for your own interests:

#1 Always buy from a seller who generally has some type of established feedback. For these particular phones NEVER buy from a new seller.

#2 A few of my associates and I agree to fully look into the source. Make sure to obtain a valid address and a valid NAME and phone number before purchasing. Make sure the number is NOT a cell phone.

#3 Another good idea is to avoid sellers who build up feedback by buying alot of private items and or items of cheap value (under $.99!) This is purposely done to make there account look legit and it can prove to be costly if the seller wasn't reliable.

#4 Never buy from a private feedback member. This is common sense.

#5 Please be very careful trusting people who say they have a tremendous amount. THESE PHONES ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED!

GOODLUCK BIDDING BUT KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR THESE PEOPLE WHO HAVE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS AND TRY TO STEAL FROM HARD-WORKING PEOPLE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME!

I will NEVER use your website again in the future, I purchased the T-Mobile sidekick from one of your merchants that being, Barrin86@aol.com (Nashad Carrington) and he never sent me the product that I purchased. I also filed a complaint with "pay-pal" which where the payment went through and they only agreed to refund $200.00 of the purchase price, that being with shipping & handaling came to a total of $330.00. So one of your merchant theifs made $130.00 for doing nothing at all, as well never sending the "Brand New T-Mobile Sidekick" that I purchased from him. Again, I will never use your webiste and I will also recommend to all my freinds, family, and anyone else that I can think to advise to also not use your site for purchasing from your total rip-off website!!!

Sincerely Yours,
James Sodeman

  Absolutely Fantastic!
Review created: 01/29/07

I love the sk3. I bought mine a week ago and I love it. There is no other that can compare to the sk3's real time instant messaging on MSN, Yahoo and AOL, and simultaneously without slowing down the phone. Danger did and awesome job with the OS, giving you the ability to handle all of your time management needs in the palm of your hand. The push email is fantastic. I don't even use the sk3 as a phone..I use it strictly for data since I hate talking on the phone, but it keeps me in touch with everyone that matters, all the time, which rocks. The phone's Mp3 player is great. The camera could have been a tad better but is sufficient for a phone.

The good outweighs the bad. Danger should have made this simple feature: the charge light turning to green when fully charge. The sk3 does not do that. You must look at the screen and see the battery level at full in order to see it's fully charged. The speaker to hear sound notifications and mp3s SHOULD have been a few notches louder. Although you can listen to music without headphones providing the room is quiet, if you fully want to make use of the mp3 player, you should purchase decent headphones with a 2.5"mm head. The HTML browser would have been better if they had made it significantly faster than the sk2. This would please sk3 users everywhere, but I have a feeling they are still working on that.

Overall, you can't go wrong with getting an sk3. Try to find a screen protector if you can. I'm still on the hunt for one because the screen is easily scratched and no one wants to deal with that. It's a sexxy phone that does more than I could ever expect out of a phone. The data for it is dirt cheap if you get the T-mo sidekick to go unlimited $1/day plan. It'll cost you way more on a BB or any of the others out there for more functionality. SK3 isn't just for kids. I'm 29...and regardless of the trend to own a more sophisticated looking phone (only by reputation), I know a deal when I see one, and sk3 is a hard one to beat. So use some common sense and don't listen to the trendsetters.....get the more bang for your buck. Get any phone that will give you want but has the affordability.

THE SK3 SIDEKICK 3 GETS 2 THUMBS UP WITH MY CUSTOMERS!
Review created: 09/27/06(updated 09/27/06)
11 of 16 people found this review helpful.

LIKE MY REVIEW? PLEASE RATE IT SO I KNOW I AM PROVIDING GOOD INFORMATION!

As a seller of the Sidekick 3, this is the feedback that I have gotten from customers:

There is a difference in plastic, and therefore people who are used to the feel of the SK2 are a little put off by the less dense, and therefore not as heavy, Sidekick 3. However, it is a better design as far as the durability of the keys and the phone, though not as heavy, is equally if not more durable now.

You WILL NOT be able to bring ring tones and other applications/programs over from your SK2... This, in my opinion, is the biggest drawback of the SK3.

Tres is bluetooth compatible, meaning you can get a wireless headset now. Duce was great for text messaging but not a great phone otherwise.

Tres has MP3 capabilities. You will also experience faster browsing. The camera is better and the battery is now removable which works well for people who can now use a backup battery when needed. FYI-- DON'T KEEP YOUR BLUETOOTH HEADSET ON! That will run the battery out of your phone!

The cost of the Sidekick 3 is outrageous, in my opinion. I work with a lot of people in the deaf community, and these phones are great data only phones but often are not within budget. I do offer low cost Sidekick 3 phones, with and without data plans, but with 2 year T-Mobile contracts only which doesn't work for everybody. These tend to be a little pricey. However, the data plans with the Sidekicks are $19.99 including unlimited texting, which is $10 less than what you would be billed monthly for the MDA data which doesn't come with texting.

Also, there seems to be a rash of fraudulent sellers on eBay with Sidekick 3 phones, so always check the seller's feedback and ask questions before jumping into anything.

In all, my customers are extremely happy with the functionality of the SK3 and all the upgrades and features it offers. HAPPY EBAYING!

I havent bought a sidekick, but i work with them 24/7. I am the technical support for the sidekick 3. I'll be honest...It's an interesting device. I was very excited about it when it was about to launch. I had my hands on it about 3 weeks before any customer had even seen it. So it was nice to play with and stuff. I love the msn part on it. I'm not of an AIM person but its a very good add on. The other thing is the bluetooth. I use the phone a lot as well so pairing it with the bluetooth is definately a wonderful option. The web browser speed is faster too because it is edge capable. The picutres are actually much better than the sidekick 2 with many more options as well. the Mp3 player is a bonus and is very nice. Truly Amazing...Then of course there is the new softwares available. o and btw for all those that didnt know.. Time traveller which is the alarm clock on the sidekick was added to the catalog for T-Mobile just yesterday on the Sidekick 3. the ringtones don't need to be transferred over from the sidekick 2. (plz dun complain when u call cuz we can't do anything about it!!!)The sidekick 3 crashes a lot less thant he sidekick 2. I've been troubleshooting it for the past 3 months and honestly speaking it is soo much easier. Its got nicer features. plus its a world phone...there's so much to this device... ugh i wont be able to stop alld ay :D If you need more information do contact me.. I can help answer any questions about the sidekick you might have!!!

  Not worth the money

I was excited when I got this phone but soon found myself disappointed. The phone has very little customization. MP3s you put on your phone cannot be set as your ringtones and you can't even put your own wallpaper on it.

The large display screen would be nice, except for the fact that it eats through the battery in no time at all. And come to find out, this is when the phone's screen setting isn't even at half power. Within 2-4 days of little to no use, the battery's already dead.

Although the phone's keypad is nice and the web browser is decent, the phone is far too overpriced for what you get.

First off this is a HOT SLEEK cell phone. From involving from the Sidekick 1, The sidekick family has sure upgraded their systems performance.

Some of the positive aspects are:

* Black sleek look
* Has a built-in MP3
* Finger-Friendly scroll ball
* Comes with memory card
* Takes GREAT pictures
* Long, Long, Long battery life

The few negative aspects are:

* The ringtones are not that loud
* No video

Bottom Line:
This is a very stylish, and yet great performing cell phone. It is top-of-the line technology and can be yours for under $150 bucks! This is really a nice phone.

I was a major sidekick 2 fan, and i ordered my sidekick 3 way in advance. If you were/are a sidekick 2 owner the only real difference it has is its size, a trackball, and slightly faster web browsing. Software wise it is the exactly the same, but now with an mp3 and mini sd slot. One thing that i dislike about the sidekick 3 is its sound, speakerphone sucks and you can barely hear the mp3's when they are played aloud. Do not get the phone if you are not going to be using it for all it can offer, its not worth it!!!

  Great phone
Review created: 05/21/07
8 of 9 people found this review helpful.

It's a good phone. Though some may call it bulky, and it is, it's not really heavy enough to weigh you down all that much. It's a great communication tool of all sorts, with it's ability to IM, text, and call all with a click of the trackball.

Pros:
Mini SD card slot for added memory
Music player (supports WMA, WAV, and MP3)
Nice digital camera
USB support makes it quick and easy to transfer music and pictures
Good choice of programs to download
Downloadable themes make it easy to change the background on your SK3
Great for texting (can't emphasize this enough)
Ability to map out a contact's address

Cons:
Short battery life; you'll be charging this baby every night
If you're not on the network, meaning you don't have the Sidekick Data Plan, and your phone dies, all content is erased
No video recording/playback
HTML is the only code supported on the web browser

It's well worth the price, but if you're not in dire need of it right away, then wait for the price drop. It's all in all an excellent phone, and I wouldn't want any other one.

  T-Mobile Sidekick 3 (T-Mobile)
Review created: 09/18/08
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I love most everything. I got a 3 over the new LX as its too expensive. I ended up liking it better anyway.

Most fans of the sidekick know it is a bit bigger than most other phones. But the keyboard size makes it that way and is great because texting is a breeze. My husband hated texting and refused to do it when all my previous phones were so small his fingers couldnt type without multiple mistakes. When I got this he loved the larger keyboard. I can type on it just as fast as my computer one.
When people complain of the sidekick being too large, why buy it then in the first place if you dont like the size? If you want a slim sleek little phone(thats easy to break or lose I think) but if its a small phone you want, get a smaller phone then! Some are good like I love my blacberry pearl too and its small and is very sturdy. But the sidekick is really not that big, but its size is justified by what it has.
Also, the screen is much bigger than on most phones, so viewing everything is really great. Would be great for anyone who wants to browse the internet. And great for anyone who hates trying to squint to see anything their smaller phones.

I purchased a few features, like the games they are great! They have an awesome selection of games that are easier to use on the sidekick than any other phone because of the trackball and keypad as well as the up,down, left, right thing on the left side.

I also purchased the mobile journal, and can journal on my phone! Its great for me because I love to write/journal, and I'm creative, I draw and fashion design. So the journal is great for jotting down things in my head so I dont lose them by the time I get home!

They have many other features Im dying to get!

My phone also came rhinestoned out on the top and I did my own on the back. It looks beautiful! The phone is way better looking than its predecessors. I also personally like it over the new one as I dont like the green color on the new one, but hey some people like it I guess. Not a fan of the tony hawk model either, its a big waste of alot of money when you can buy a regular and just put a custom case on it for way cheaper!. I love how the 3 is silver and black, my favorite of all the other sidekicks is this one!

My only 3 complaints, which is why I didnt rate it as perfect(I believe nothing is perfect!) is that with this phone you have to buy many things that come with normal phones like the alarm clock and other features. Whats up with that crap? I know they wanna make money but I think thats a bit rude and unfair to the customer to expect us to buy things that every other phone comes with? But I love my kick so much I got over that as its tmobiles fault not the phones.

2nd complaint is similar to the 1st as it involves tmobile being greedy. You cannot put your own ringtones on this phone, like I can with my blackberry. You have to buy them and they are expensive, like 3 bucks a piece! And the selection of tones is crappy I found none so far I liked enough to spend the money so I just use the ones already one the phone.

3rd issue is just the camera. But everyone knows that sidekicks cameras are pretty suckish, they might as well not put them on at all. But thats a given with the sidekicks as I said, and all versions are like this, well Im not sure about the new one but it is prolly the same. I dont care, I have a real camera for pics.

But as I said my likes by far out-weigh my dislikes.

I highly recommened it!

I am VERY furious about this item. It said, before I bought it, that it was in "great condition." Well I fell into the trap of believing this seller. I got the phone about 3 weeks ago(which took FOREVER to get here!!) and I tried to charge this phone and it didn't work. I bought a new battery, thinking the battery was the problem and found out it wasn't even that. I just bought a charger recently, and NOW the phone won't even turn on. I am SO furious about this. I really just want my money back.

The T-Mobile Sidekiick 3.The screen is bright enough, the keys are raised, easy to do text.I havent figured all the keys yet but one thing I realized that is not possible in this model is to do one hand opening of the phone. When you need to dial out, you have to use both hand to open the phone screen.Changing menus is 2 handed also, so even when you need to find a contact. you have to use both hand to navigate the menus.I do a lot of texting so most of the time it is OK but when I call out ,it annoys me.I had a slider before ,so this was not an issue at all.
Although the phone is fun,email.instant messaging,mp3 player,games.
The phone speakerphone is noted weak as well.
Problem:The data is erased everytime the phone ran out of power
I decided to buy it because I prefer to text than calling.

Sidekick has a lot to offer, but some downsides
Review created: 01/09/07

6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

The sidekick 3 is one of the hottest phones out on the market, so I bought it to try it out. I'm used to pocket PC'S such as the Treo 650 and a couple other phones, so I knew the sidekick would be different. The phone itself, was great and didn't give me any problems. But it does have some downsides, for example, I was using it for a lot of internet, text messaging, and instant messaging, and by the end of the day my battery was dying, so I had to purchase an additional car charger. One other thing I did not like was the screen resolution, I like the screen to be bright, but the sidekick, at the maximum, wasn't more than a regular computer screen at 40%. This caused me to be squinting a lot to see what was happening with the screen. In conclusion, I would recommend the sidekick if you are more of an internet/IM/text messaging addict, and you don't want to pay huge prices for data. (sidekick unlimited plan $30.00 a month unlimited data, IM, text, and pic messaging) And if you don't mind a little bit of a big phone, not so bright screen, and carry an extra battery with you, just in case, this phone would be great for you. You'll love all the extra features, and eventually you'll become a sidekick addict.

Side kick 3. Definately a teen thing.
Review created: 12/04/06
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Who isn't stumped about what to get there teenage daughters for their birthday? My daughter wanted a Sidekick 3. Not a cheap phone!!!Then again...it is so much more than a phone.
This is a Phone capable of Bluetooth technology. And, as kids will be kids, I know she will still be talking on the phone while she drives, but at least her hands will be free.
It also has a full keyboard for texting your friends. No more trying to figure what button to push for what letter or punctuation mark.It also has on line capabilities: meaning she can talk to her friends in her Yahoo, AOL, or ICQ list.
It takes great pictures. Perhaps not as good as a digital camera, but definately better than your average camera phone.
The downside is; at least with T-Mobile; It costs more. You must call into customer service and tell them you have purchased this phone. But they will help you set it up. If it is a used phone, they will help you erase the old account and set yourself up on the phone in a new one.
The cost of the phone is twenty five dollars extra a month. But this can be pared down. If you are paying for messages, they can delete that cost off your old account. Texting on the Sidekick is part of the 25.00. so, if you have a child that is always going over their texting bundle amount. this will no longer happen. It now becomes unlimited.
Because of the costs and the demand of this product. You will still pay a goodly chunk of change for this item on Ebay. But if you are carefull about your limits, and are willing to let some go by the wayside as the bid goes over what you can afford, be patient. It may take you 10 different items to find one that falls withing your price range, but it can be done.

(Too Many Different Kinds) T-Mobile Charges Larger Prices For Sidekicks that have more of a design on them, but the features on the phone and the phone itsself (Besides the looks and design), is still the very same as a regular one. If You think about it you dont really need a sidekick with designs. Your Just waisting More Money than you need to, Which is not needed.

All The Sidekicks That T-Mobile Offer, Are Exactly The Same But With Different Designs.
