Not bad, but not great

While Cheryl and Maksim are both talented dancers, but only Maks makes a good workout video host. The choreography is not too hard for a novice, and the focus is more on technique, which a more trained dancer could appreciate. There is a good build of increasingly difficult steps, which shouldn't leave anyone in the dust. It is a nice introduction to different styles of latin dance, and you are able to choose which dances you would like to try separately.
Cheryl is incredibly stiff and clearly uncomfortable in this setting, which is actually pretty funny. She claims that dancing is fun, while the backup dancers look bored out of their minds - no smiles to be found. At another point, she awkwardly walks around the studio to show you how the backup dancers are doing the very basic step she has just taught, but she knows none of their names and it comes across as killing time. The backup dancers are lackluster, anyways, so I wouldn't recommend looking to them as a guide.
Maksim is comfortable and fun to watch. He's funny and charismatic, and does well with his segments.
This isn't really an excercise DVD, it's a dance tutorial, and if you keep that in mind, it is a good purchase for someone wanting to learn the basic steps you see on "Dancing with the Stars."
