I danced with that same devil

Eight years past, seems like yesterday that I experienced "dancing with the devil" along with the author, David Savage. This is the true account. No embellishment or stretching of the facts, just the truth about our experiences in East Timor in 1999. As I read this book it all came back, the good and bad, even the conversations are correct. I will always appreciate the courage and humor of my fellow police offices and the two military advisers living in the Palias. The courage and care that our local staff provided to us, under trying conditions, should also not go unmentioned.
Those reading this book will find East Timor of 1999 bizarre mix of contradictions.
Savage recalls the mangy dogs and the big Gecko at the Palais but left out our resident rats in the kitchen and in the attic. No mention was made of the wet floor in the bathroom and the worms. Now the book is complete. A very good read that you won't want to set down.
The book is also a fitting tribute to Austrian Police Officer Horst who I am sure is in a better place.
