What can I say, if you're a fan of punk you probably have this in your collection or did at one time. My only complaint about this version (I assume there is a re-mastered version out there) is that it is too quiet. This music demands you crank it up!

  Classic 80's Punk
Review created: 05/25/08

Essential to any punk collection...Rollins is at his best and this is the type of ground breaking work that has resulted in so much of what we hear today. There are some classic songs and some that sound like noise, but you need to read the words, think about the time, and put on your Van hightops and try some slam dancing...

Black Flag. Punk when it was DANGEROUS, SCARY.
Review created: 11/18/07

Here is the band that launched a thousand imitators. I remember when punk was not mainstream. It was exciting, a little dangerous, a little counter culture. Not the pop stylings of Green Day (not that there is anything wrong with that...)but raw, emotional punk. Greg Ginn's out style of guitar showed flashes of genius, with Henry Rollins seething vocals. This album was the "White Album" of my generation. When Henry shouts "I Want to Live... I wish I was dead." it is like poetry that sums up the adolescent angst of the Reagan era. A must have.

  Different Expectations

When I bought this CD and put it in my stereo, it was the first time I had ever heard Black Flag. I've usually heard them credited as the forerunners of hardcore punk, so I had (somewhat naive) expectations that it would sound something akin to Stretch Arm Strong or Sick of It All. What it DOES sound like is basically poppy Ramones punk with yelling vocals which hit no pitch in particular. The production is really rough and the syncronization of the instruments is not exactly tight. That being said, I think Black Flag has accomplished with this album exactly what they wanted to. This is how it's SUPPOSED to sound. The production sounds like crap because that's how punk production SHOULD sound. Admittedly, if I'm disappointed, it's probably because I expected it to sound different than it does. It's grown on me, and I think it has some really strong songs on it. For all I know, the more I listen to it and get more acclamated to what they were going for, I'll probably like it more.

I liked that, I didnt half 2, drive 27 mile's to Jplin ,Mo 2, order and half to wait 3 to 4 week's to receive. Because my hick town of Miami,ok you can't get much, of anything, at all. " You half to go 100 mile's 2, tulsa,ok which they would have in stock, at Starship, which at the present time I didn't have time to do. Even though my family live's in Tulsa still no time and the rest Calif, sure no time 4, that. Well the point I would have had to order at Joplin. But I could have received a much better conditioned one 4, a sheeper price. But would had to drive 4, 27 mile's and wait on it2, arrive !! Or drive 100 mile's in stock !!! Well 2 way's looking at it paid 3.4 cost tulsa, or 2 or 3 doller's less and wait joplin !! I didn't like orig case and image was missing, mainly the picture. (4 that price should have had!! Badly scratched, I had 2, pay 3 doller' 2, have sccratches removed !! I didn't care 4, that.. I ay 60% percent over all quality !! If a person is going to pay around $ 17.25 4, a used cd that 1, is harder 2,get but u, can get it not at all out of print. Well 4, that price cd should be up to 92% quality, or dont even list to bid. Put a price tell a little about, I have $21.00 doller's in to it, after re surficing and no picture or right case.. But well what can I say now it play's good !!!
