A Marketing Triumph

Due to the marketing hype and controversy I had to see this film so bought it on ebay. I am not a religious person so I keep an open but slightly negative mind on the past activities of Agnus Dei and the Catholic Church.
I must also mention that I did not read the book as my expernience has shown that very few films come to the book's level, and I wanted to avoid making the comparisons.
I had to see the film in two sittings as it moved so slowly, had moments of total unreality, and was without real suspense.
The story itself was stilted but gradually built some depth toward the end.
Most of the international stars such as Reno were totally under-utilised and all in all the film should have been much better and far more controversial.
As such I can only call it average, and will predict that by the middle of 2007 will be totally forgotten.
