Album Notes
D.E. 7TH is Dave Edmunds second solo album after the dissolution of his much-loved band, Rockpile. As with its predecessor, TWANGIN', the album finds Edmunds playing with a crack studio ensemble, some of whose members subsequently went out on the road with him. Of particular note is pianist Geraint Watkins, who also figures prominently on some of Nick Lowe's finest releases.
This set opens with the Bruce Springsteen-penned (though not recorded by him) "From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)." As with all of Edmunds' albums, his choice of material is the key to his success. D.E. 7TH's winning batch includes smart selections by Terry Adams (the NRBQ-recorded "Me And The Boys"), Gallagher & Lyle ("Generation Rumble"), and Doug Kershaw ("Louisiana Man") along with Chuck Berry's obscure but wonderful "Dear Dad."
