The Reinvention that never stuck
If you like Billy Idol AND you like techno music; I think you will like this CD. If you LOVE Bill Idol, you will like this album (and maybe just maybe love it). This album stands completely alone amongst other Billy Idol studio relaeases - not just for the "techno" production and instrumentation, but because it is a "theme album"; that is, all of the songs (save maybe 1 or two of them) are written with lyrics that end up telling a story (sort of) in a Gibsonesque tone. In a strange way - I feel it is both BI's best and worst album release. Best becasue of the lyrical content. Worst, because the commercial failure of this relaease made him leave the recording business for some 10 or so years. If you want a Billy Idol Album in the vain of "Billy Idol", "Rebel Yell" or "Whiplash Smile" - get his latest from 2005 - "Devil's Playground", I think it is more for the typical BI fan; "Cyberpunk" is whole different animal.
