When the cameras stop filming and the director utters the final "that's a wrap," the job of piecing together a movie lies in the hands of some talented editors. But what goes on in the editing studio is usually a mystery to the general public and remains an exclusive art that has been finally honed by a select band of practitioners. Many of the top directors in the film industry rely on these shadowy figures to help them turn their movies into masterpieces. THE CUTTING EDGE: THE MAGIC OF EDITING focuses on a number of these talented editors in an attempt to gain a greater understanding of how the process works. Among those taking part are Zach Staenberg, who worked on "THE MATRIX." Narration throughout is done by actress Kathy Bates.

This is an excellent documentary that shows the viewer the ins & outs of this superiorly important art that the film industry couldn't do without. Learn why film editing is an Oscar worthy category over shadowed by everybody except those in the know!
