The Cutting Edge (DVD, 2001, Contemporary Classics)

I love this movie to the point I had it on VCR tape and just bought it on DVD. While there is sarcastic relationship to the two, it is only a cover up to their feelings for one another. So while it is a romantic movie, it isn't a mushy totally unrealistic one either. I just have a lot of fun watching this movie, over and over and over.

A wonderful movie. I enjoyed how even the most pickest woman can overlook one's flaws. The heart that fills with love can resolve any anger or conflicts that was once an issue not seem so bad. I just like Sweeney so handsome and Kelly an awsome young actress, they have good chemistry together.

Okay, so its a bit goofy and predictible, but its a great film and always makes me feel better about the world.

Its a mood movie... when you're in the mood to watch figure skating. Kick ass attitude, and shapely bodies float across the screen. Its a movie for when you want to feel the cold of your own breath in the air.

I'm always drawn into the characters. Witty reparte and heck, just a good time. A bit of the look of the late 1980s, but hey... all that will eventually come back into style.

Watch it. I probably do at least once a year.

MOIRA Kelly is the spoiled and "witch" little skater who NO ONE WANTS TO SKATE WITH. her Russian coach has the brilliant idea of putting the rough around the edges Hockey Skater with the Prima Donna Skater~ TOGETHER AS A ICE SKAING "PAIR~OH BUT THEY HATE EACH OTHER~

the fun is watching them "blend" like oil and water~
BEST line in the movie is "toe pick" the endless fun watching Sweeney attempting to use Figure Skating Skates~ (HOCKEY SKATES AND FIGURES SKATES ARE ALOT DIFFERENT~)finally~ the pair find some middle ground and end up very good but the Secret to Success is super secret move the Russian Coach has in mind~ as they argue their ALL the way to the Olympics~ this is a chick Flick but WE like it any way~ THIS IS THE BEST OF THE "Cutting Edge" moves.....MOVIES THE 2 SEQUILS DO NOT COMPARE~

Why'd I buy it? That's easy! For a feel-good film that's also part romance and has enough comedy to keep it light and bubbly, this is your movie! It's campy to be sure, but the skating sequences are terrific, the acting isn't half bad, the script is pretty tight and Paul Michael Glaser turned out to be pretty good director to boot. Get the new Gold Medal edition for the best print, but even the 2000 or 2001 editions are pretty decent transfers.

Don't sweat the date of the original release, it holds up pretty well. What you're going to enjoy is a timeless, simple story that's also a lot of fun.

this is one of my Favorites! i Love this movie!! i'm a sucker for dance movies and THIS one is the reason why. d.b.sweeny is great. the actors are all good. the story is wonderful. the filming..or cutting, editing, whatever is Great! this movie makes you laugh, and cry. the ending is fantastic. this one gets 5 stars! see it and you'll want it for yourself.

This is a excelent movie for anyone who is a romantic, love's ice skating..
Its has a great combination of feelings between the actors. I dont think there is anything i dont like about this movie, I had it on vhs and now i had to buy it on dvd.. Its a have to have!!

If you like a little romance, a little feistiness, and a little skating you will enjoy this movie. To be very honest I did not think I was going to like it, but I did and I am glad I bought it!!

I enjoy romantic/romantic comedies (as long as they have happy endings) :-)
The only thing I wish were different about this movie (as in many others) is some of the unnecessary language and sexual implications. Their skating is wonderful and the basic story line is fun. I just wish they would go back to making all movies by the "G" rating standards and not throw in the foul language and sexual implications.

It's entertaing to watch a spoiled rich girl, get her nose rubbed with competetive skating reality. Great on screen chemistry. I really like this movie since the time I originally watched it in the theater. Had to own it, is so good!

AND ALSO HAS SOME GREAT ICE SKATING.
GREAT MOVIE FOR ANY AGE.

The original Cutting Edge is a well cast, and entertaining movie. But the profanity used in places is inexcusable. I can handle, but don't like the occasional cuss word, (which, speech being the index of the mind, is the usual way low class people express themselves). Be that as it may, I absolutely detest hearing the name of God used loosely or in cursing. It adds nothing to a movie, but subtracts from it. Such blasphemy is comfortable only to people who are perishing, and devils.
