Curly Girl by Deborah Chiel, Lorraine Massey (2002, Paperback, Illustrated)

I had read about Curly Girl on a message board. When I find something I am interested in, I always check with Ebay. I can find it cheaper than buying it brand new somewhere! I love it! I love the Curly Girl methods! I have been following the methods and I have had people ask me if I have had a perm!!! I absolutely love it!!!!!

I decided to purchase this book because I needed some help getting my curls to look nice. It has GREAT step-by-step instructions, as well as product recommendations. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone and everyone with curly- it is a dream come true! I have never before seen anything that makes curly hair easy to manage and fun to have.

Curly Girl rocks! I have permed hair, have never had so many compliments in my life, and have recommended the book to everyone that asks. A friend bought 4 books and gave one to her hairdresser, too. Great photos, stories, recipes for homemade products and an author with a great sense of humor. As another reviewer said, after you get over the shock of not shampooing (though I do very occasionally), your hair will feel so soft. The clear styling lotion at the end sets the curls just you'd like them. Kathy

My 20-something daughter has naturally curly hair. She spent hours (literally) in middle school trying to straighten her hair. In high school, she just gave up and let it grow. Then she read this book (at my hairdresser's recommendation). My daughter said that if she'd read this book years ago, she would have learned to love her hair. If you have curls- you must have this book. Who knew that there is all these different types of curles and they require different care? Makes a lot of sence though. After following all the direction I started getting A LOT of compliments on how defined my curls are. Great as a gift to any curly girl or her mom.

I bought this book for advice on how to style my curly hair and to keep it in the best possible condition. The author gives interesting advice-it probably would be more useful to someone who has really kinky curly hair.

If you have curly or wavy hair, (yes even if its just wavy) you have to have this book. It will change your life forever! I wish I would have had it sooner.
This book will really show you how to have beautiful curls and waves and get your hair in the best condition and you will never have that stringy 80's, frizzy, crispy look. They will be natural, shiny, beautiful curls and waves.
And it made my wavy hair more on the curly side (which I wanted) I was tired of fighting with my hair and straightening it for so many years and having it ruined and damaged. Well, now my hair is silky, soft and shiny and healthy!
Its the best info a girl (or guy) could have on caring for natural curls. Don't wait another day. Don't fight your hair anymore. Embrace it and learn how to care for it so it looks the best it possibly can.

Had briefly skimmed through book before, it's a self-help book that applies to me and has been extremely helpful to me.

(In) Looking for a long long long time, for ways to take care of curly hair, finally, this book enables you to do so. Contains things that your hair dresser will not tell, more then likely because they are unaware. Highly recommend for anyone with wavy or very curly hair. Sorry started my sentence with a prep.

If you're a "curly girl" please read this book! Don't waste another minute on crying over your unruly locks. The advice is great, the recipes made from mostly household products or inexpensive items from the health food store are indispensible. The price of the book is more than justified just for the advice to NEVER SHAMPOO curly hair again. Once you get over the shock of that statement and read the reason behind it . . . you're liberated!

I'm just now getting into the manual, but so far so good. There are some really interesting points that us "curly girls" don't know about. It really does make you stop and shop the right way for your shampoo/cond. :)

This is an excellent book on curly hair maintenance. It gives great examples & easy to use directions on creating the very best curly 'do.

I've already purchased 3 copies & given them away as gifts - every one loves it!

I like this book because it really tells you how to care for curly hair, however, I didn't like how it told you how to style your hair and don't touch it. My hair doesn't work like that. I have boticelli curls and I have to scrunch or it will look like a big mess. There are good hair healthy recipes and I haven't used shampoo in over a month and my hair looks great. Good advice on how to care for curly hair, but styling it.. forget about it!

Recommended by a friend. I love the book, it frees my inner girl and my inner curl! AND it doesn't try to sell anything!
