This is a very touching, sweet Christmas story about a young man visiting his elderly aunt. I bought this copy as a gift for a friend. I already have a signed copy that I bring out and read each Christmas.

This Story is about Sharing, even for selfish reasons if we don't always want to.I've been a nurse for over 40 years, caring for residents in Long Term Care Facilities or Assistant Living Types. At Christmas more than any other Holiday, I've watched the Frail dependant on others, waiting on A Visitor. Anyone ! But when that Special One comes, The Joy they bring ! Tea, Cookies, Candy, all the special things come out to be Shared ! The whole Facility was pleased for the Peace the Visits brought. I Love this Story. I bought it for this very reason. Sharing, Caring, Taking out of our busy time to Make Someone Day Special.

I saw the book when looking at teacups and became interested in the cup and the book. I purchased the book and was delighted when I read the story. It has a message for all of us that in our busy times at Christmas, we should remember to take a little time out and receive a great blessing when we visit with an older relatives or friends. But then, should we wait until Christmas? Or should we try during the year to remember our older loved one? Made me think!!!

A Cup of Christmas Tea is a wonderful gift

I purchased Tom Hegg's book, A Cup of Christmas Tea because a librarian told me about it. This was about 15 years ago and I bought one at that time. It is a simple, touching story about an elderly aunt who wrote a letter to her nephew saying it would be nice if he came to have a cup of Christmas tea with her. After putting the visit off, but feeling that he needed to go, the visit was a special time in his life of past memories and what his aunt still had to offer. Today I am that elderly aunt and purchased this book to send to my nieces and nephews for Christmas. The book I received was in excellent condition (like new) and considerably less in cost than buying a new one. I love the story so much I purchased several of them on e-bay for these gifts.

I wanted to purchase these books as a base for some gifts. I was a disapointed to find the books has writing inside them. I don't think this was addressed in the selling of the product. Next time please let buyers know of any writins or markings on the book.

A wonderful book to start a family Christmas tradition
Review created: 11/03/08

Book is in excellent condition. Still stiff to open. Only thing that surprised me is that it's a bit larger than the copy I bought years ago. It won't fit as well in my book shelf. Great home-spun story. Nice to know that he's from where I live - Minneapolis, MN. This is a wonderful story around which to build an annual Christmas tradition. Read the story to the family - and enjoy A Cup of Christmas Tea as you do.

I purchased this book for my granddaughter that has been an avid reader since she learned how to read. The message of this book is an important one for everyone to learn and remember. Keeping the elderly in our thoughts is great but taking the time to call, write and most important, visit them is something that we can do to make their life more meaningful and bright. My granddaughter would visit with me during my Mother's 6 year goodbye with Alzheimer's disease. We grew fond of many of the people that were with her in the assisted living facility and still visit them. My Mother is the one that told me about this book several years ago when she had heard a reading of it on the radio.
Tom Hegg made this story very real and very poignant so that it hit home with each word. Having it signed by the author was a bonus. My granddaughter (16 years old) has also become quite endeared with real English tea parties. She and several of her friends have created several parties that were just beautiful. I purchased sets of china teacups and saucers, a teapot and vintage napkins among other small dishes and serving pieces as her Christmas present. The book put it all in perspective and added the touch that brought the gift and the meaning of it all together. Keeping the young carrying on tradition, sharing memories and honoring the elderly by listening and caring with love is one thing as adults we can encourage.
Everyone gains something special. You will not be disappointed with this touching book.

It's a grand story to share with
a family member. It was written
with a lot of reflection and
tied with family values and feeling.
The story is about a great-aunt and
how the great-nephew was feeling
at the holiday time. Very nice
book to share!

A Cup of Christmas Tea by Tom Hegg (1992)
Review created: 05/03/07

I started collecting this because my grandmother was given the teapot and cup and saucer for Christmas. She really liked it because she had a few grandchildren that lived out of state and they couldn't come home very often.
She cherished the grandchildren that visited her often but still missed the others. Everytime I look at my collection it brings back fond memories of 'Grandma' and how very much I miss her. I KNOW that I will see her again in HEAVEN because she asked Jesus to forgive her of her sins and so have I !!!!!!
