Cuisinart CBC-00BKPC

After doing some online research most people say this is an all around good coffee maker. I needed to replace an aging Mr Coffee unit so I thought I'd give Cuisinart a try. I can't see paying more than $50 for a machine that heats water and drips it through a filter with coffee.... This unit is worth the $$. I purchased a factory refurb unit. It came in a clean box and all parts & directions were included. There were some minor scratches on the face near the clock but you really had to look to find them. Viewing from a distance of greater than 6" and they are not noticable at all. I followed the directionss and ran 2 or 3 pots of water only. That evening before going to bed I set the timer, loaded water (a full 12 cups), and added the coffee. In the morning there was a HOT fresh pot of coffee wating!!! Wonderful. Mine will brew 12 cups in about 7 minutes. My water always seemed to taste fine so the coffee tasted good. The Cuisinart showed me how inferior or worn out my old Mr Coffee was by the temp of the pot alone. With that hot water the Cuisinart made a STRONG pot of coffee based on using the same amout of beans as I was used to using with the old Mr Coffee. I'm on my 10th pot or so over the last couple of days and have the strength dialed in. Fresh beans make the coffee taste even better. The dial knobs are a bit strange for programming but work well. I was used to the single big lighted button of the Mr Coffee. But this is easy to learn. I like the programmable start timer. Nice simple option. I don't like the auto shut off. I thought the unit would shut off by itself AUTOMATICALLY. But it doesn't, you have to program it to shut off after every pot. I was hoping you just program a number (say 2 hrs for example) and the unit would shut off 2 hrs AFTER making a pot of coffee AND it would continue to do this until programed otherwise. For a refurb unit I am VERY HAPPY with the Cuisinart. Sub $50 shipping included to my door. You want better tasting coffee, buy better beans and or grind your own, use good tasting water. You want hotter coffee, buy a torch. You want expensive foo-foo coffee with bells and whistles go the local coffeee shop and spend $$$$$ for dark hot water. But if you want a good basic, inexpensive coffee maker so you can afford to buy better beans and water then this is your machine. When this unit gives up the ghost I will buy another one hands down.
