Crysis Warhead (PC Games, 2008)

The game is a good game to be sure but I found it to be a letdown on more than one level first of all it is to short, second it is really only a few chapters from Crysis and it is about getting an object that in Crysis is a one scene shot as such it seems almost dumb to have an entire game just to get an object that had little point in the parent game. I also find it a bit disappointing that people in the storyline are never really seen and it bugs me. The bell and whistles are very good as are the effects but it is just that the game left me feeling like I went on a road trip to get to the beach to meet my girl and when I arrived the beach was closed and the girl was cheating on me. In short the game leaves you feeling like there was no point to it.

Overall Thoughts:
I've just finished the run through the whole game. It's a bit short but I enjoyed every bit of it. And the new multiplayer mode is awesome!
It is by far the best FPS of the year so far, and might stay that way unless runners up like Far-Cry 2 or Brothers in Arms:HH make up something revolutionary to beat this near perfect game.
This case reminds me a lot off Half-Life: Episode 2, as it is a smaller but even better game than the original in almost every way.

Pros
It has excellent graphics, of course. It is more fast paced than crysis. It has a more involved storyline. I like the way the plot unfolds in this better than the original crysis. You work more with other players than crysis. It has a couple new weapons, but not really anything worth getting excited over.

Cons
One level in particular refuses to load. "Under the Thunder" freezes while loading, leaving the game unplayable after a certain point. EA support doesn't seem to be of much help. Pretty sure its not my computer, because I have Phenom II 940, 8 GB RAM, 1 GB HD4870. Other people have been having the same problem, and the patch does nothing to fix it. There are a LOT of glitches/bugs/whatever you call them. Having Crysis Wars separate from Warhead is a total crock. Since they are separate titles, it means having them both will take up more space than if they were combined, since things like textures and the engine itself are installed twice.

Conclusion
A good title if it weren't for the mass of technical problems. Having the multiplayer separate is just stupid. EA used to make great PC games, including certain NFS titles. Unfortunately, their recent trend has been to screw pc gamers, and this title is no exception.

played original crysis. A little difficult to learn controls at first and I let it sit for a long long time. Once i got used to it, couldn't stop, much like the second version. However, the only reason i gave it a good rating instead of excellent is that it was too easy after getting through the first. Easy means fast and i think i finished the game in 2 days.

very detail graphics, smooth and customizable controls , great story line and non stop action , enemies with improved AI.

This is a fun engrossing game- but will need a very fast video card to make it work. My video card is a MSI GTX275.

Personally I liked the first game Crysis better. I look forward to the 3rd one due out next year.

Recieved it quickly and it was in great condition. My son was not disappointed. He loves the graphics and it was a lot less expensive than getting it new.

Good game for an adult: too much bad language and gore for young children. Need very good video board to play well.

When I first played Crysis I was blown away, the explosive combat, cool weapons, and the awesome graphics. When I got Warhead, I was blown away again. The game has a better plot, smoother graphics, and more weapons and vehicles. The whole game has a more cinematic feel, due to more lengthy cut-scenes, and better character development. Nomad, the player you play in the original, is a bit sterile, without any kind of feelings. Psycho, in Warhead, has more personality as experienced in the cut scenes. My only complaint is how short the game was. I beat it in a weekend, probably only about 8-10 hours of play, but I will definitely be playing it again.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game and are playing it for the third time. It flowed very well from the original and I am hoping they follow with a sequel. I believe shooter game fans will find it very interesting.

The game is excellent and very fun. The only thing i did not like about it is the fact that i had to get a new graphics card for my computer.

If you enjoyed the Crysis then this one will blow your mind. Runs smoother, better weapons, better vehicles and the same great play.

Great game, very good graphics, good story line, just like Crysis only on the other side of the island. Loved both games. I'm for single player games, me against all odds. With Crysis I've played all 4 levels. (last 2 levels really hard.) Just started Crysis warhead, on level normal.

This game has amazing graphics and is one of the best 1st person shooters to date. The game is great for either beginners or old hands at gaming. You can't go wrong with this game.

If you like person shooter games, then you'll enjoy this one. It's a little busy for me that's why I give it a GOOD rating. The graphics are excellent and there's plenty of action for but it's too much like an arcade game.

other than that crysis wars comes with it which is the MMO version of crysis which is the best "live" game ive ever played.

Compared to the original, warhead is definitely shorter. However, the pace of gameplay is much more action packed and exciting. The new weapons and vehicles really mix it up. There are also quite a bit more cutscenes to make the storyline interesting. So far I've beaten it in normal mode and am going again in delta mode. Definitely worth it at around $20.

This is an awesome game. I would advise anyone who wants to play the game however, to go to the Crysis website and run the online program which tests your computer to see whether you could even play the game or not. This game is very graphic intensive. I've Got a powerful quadcore computer with a NVIDIA GTX 9800+ Black Edition (overclocked from the factory) and I can't run the game at max settings without lag.
Another down side is - for some stupid reason, this game allows you to turn off the "blood" but will not allow you to turn off the bad language. The game would be completely enjoyable without the moronic 5th grade potty mouth vocabulary. That would be my only real gripe about the game. They need to hire some "talented" people for dialog who do not need to rely upon the simplicity of 4 letter words to get their point across (or at least allow it to be turned off).

WOW.... This is the best game I have ever played in my life and I am 50 years young. If you start with the first in the series "Crysis" it helps get you used to all of the workings of the game and introduces you to the story. It is wild with effects and the visual journey is unbeatable. I have completed both "Crysis" and "Crysis Warhead" and cant wait for the next game to come out.

A MUST PLAY for gamers!
