Cry of the Kalahari by Delia Owens, Mark Owens (1992, Paperback, Reissue)

This is one of my all time favorite books. I like adventure travel, especially the type where I carry my belongings with me into the wilderness. I've fancied that I can survive anywhere, but after reading this book, I realize how comparatively wimpy my version of adventure travel has been. Mark and Delia have written an amazing account of their years in the Kalahari desert surviving blistering heat, severe drought, broken vehicles, and much more. If you love Africa, read this book. If you love adventure travel, read this book. If you love lions, hyenas and African wildlife, read this book. If you fantasize about escaping to an isolated lifestyle, read this book. I wish they'd write a sequel about how the seclusion affected their relationship. To their credit, they kept that private in this book.
