Crossing over by John Edward (2001, Hardcover)

If you believe in psychic mediums this book is well worth the read. As a firm believer and someone who occasionally gets premonitions "etc." I can say that the language used in this book adequately describes some feelings I've had myself. It compares favorably with other books on the same subject such as "Embraced by The Light". I highly recommend Crossing Over.

I was not impressed with this book. John Edward practices PSYCHIC activity, necromancy,(talking with the dead) numerology, crystal gazing, etc. The Bible clearly states that necromancy is a sin and that we should not consult a medium, or psychic. I think he is either making this stuff up or is in contact with a evil spirit. Mostly I think he is out to make a fast buck. He uses a method called cold or warm readings. Check out some of the stuff people say about him being a fraud on the internet.

Cold readings are where they make an educated guess about something about you, buy picking up clues, by what you say or do, or your appearance or age. If you tell them the information is wrong, they use a number of ways to distract you, for example some will tell you that they are getting information from a "playful" spirit that tells them false things, etc..... warm readings are where they have microphones in the studio before their show and they listen in, as people talk to friends that have come with them about deceased friends or relatives, and then they pick those people in the audience that they listened in on and use that information to make those people and others think they are getting a message from a spirit.

I would not recommend this book.

I bought this book as a gift. I have bought other books by John Edward before and have enjoyed them. His books are well written and very interesting. This book is very similar to his television show.

This is a very well written book. I lost 3 family memebers in 13 months and I found it very helpful.

The book goes into too much detail of how John made his way in the business. I was more interested in the psychic experiences than his career path.

I lost my son a year ago to lung problems. He was 24 and this book helped me in so many ways!. I was told that I HAD to read to by a friend on mine that lost her son. Loved the book!

I read this because many consider it a quintessential story of a medium. Many claim that John Edward's readings for them have provided evidentiary information for life after life, more commonly known to most of us as life after death. Many times, a medium has a peculiar life story and one can built an equal case for their having a mental disorder rather than a God given gift. However, John Edward is interesting in that he lived a life as a very loved child, who appears to be without mental illness and the resultant peculiarities. He also eloquently speaks of his love for his relatives, particularly for his mother. He appears to be, from his writing, an integrated self actualized individual capable of success in many occupations. This speaks positively of his credibility and makes him a rarity.
The book talks about his journey as a child to a man and to a medium and how he was trained for this type of work.
This is not the book to read if you wish to develop your own intuitive or channeling gifts as this is not its scope. However, if you are interested in reading about the man, and how someone with tested consistent gifts has stayed sane and tried to use them for good, while aiding others with a similar gift, then this is a fascinating read. There are aspects of death, like cause of death determined from otherworldly means, that John Edward is able to determine better than any other psychic medium out there. And now I will tell you something about me, I am primarily a skeptic who believes I can do this type of work too, though I believe that most are doing it through simple pattern recognition. John Edward appears to be one of the few who is doing it with direct extra worldly information.

The book Crossing over by John Edward, is a very good book. And the person it was bought for is 78 years old and I know she will love it too.
People can learn alot by just reading a book. And books like these can help you in more ways then one. Thank you.

Book covers Edward's experiences from his teen years through to the creation and inception of the TV show and after. Lots of autobiographical information as well and numerous samples of readings. The trials and tribulations associated with what Edward does and those of his TV program are shared with great candor. Numerous well known names cited for their involvement throughout the years. A very good read. Very credibly and professionally written.

I love it. Book tells all about what he does & thinks. I decided too buy this book, because my Dad died 5 years ago, I can`t let go. I need someone too tell me he is ok with what we had too do. He had no voice at the end, my dad was on life suport. I want to read in john edwards book, crossing over, that my dad is ok.

Very dry reading, too many words for description of intentions. I was not interested how the tv show and broadcasting was first set up, was interested in Mr Edward himself and his life lessons. Alot of name dropping that did not keep my interest. Although I did read to the last page.

I have watched a number of John Edward's "Cross Country" episodes on television. I wanted to find out how he got started and what life was like for him. This book does a very good job of giving the reader a picture of what life is like for a medium, why John chose the television path and his struggle to be accepted as legitimate.

I have been watching John Edward on satellite and wanted one of his books. It's not exactly what I thought it would be, but it is very interesting reading. I love to watch his shows as well as some other medium shows on TV. I want to read his other books now.
