Steve Wynn made his name in the 1980s by leading "Paisley Underground" heroes Dream Syndicate, but since going solo in the '90s, he's left his punk-tinged psychedelic past largely behind. CROSSING DRAGON BRIDGE is a mostly acoustic, low-key singer/songwriter affair, though flashes of yesterday do pop up: "Wait Until You Get to Know Me" is like a mellower cousin of the Syndicate's "My Old Haunts," while "Annie & Me" bears a bit of the Lou Reed influence so essential to Wynn's early sound. Old rockers never die, they just unplug.
