Another great book!

This review is to highlight yet another great children's book from George Seldon. I recommend this book to young readers and parents with young reader children for a few reasons. The first, (and most important for the kids) is to call attention to the great storyline. If you've ever heard the story of country mouse and city mouse-this is much like the "country mouse" version of the story only with a cricket and not a mouse! A cricket hops aboard a train to New York City where he finds life a lot different from the fields of Connecticut. He makes a few animal friends, and a few people friends in his new home in a subway station. After the cricket (Chester) finds out he has a hidden talent of making beautiful concert quality music with his back legs and wings, he becomes an instant commodity for passing subway travelers! There are some very fun moments in this 149 page book. Now...for the parents side. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT BOOK BECAUSE A PORTION OF THE STORY IS INCLUDED IN SELECTED 4TH GRADE LEVEL READING TEXT BOOKS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM! It's a great way to expose your child to some of the actual reading material of his or her class. And if your school doesn't include this book in its curriculum, you know that it is a solid representation of the 4th grade reading level material. Great for pleasure or Guided Reading.
