Synopsis
Constantly suffering from the cold, Sam makes his companion on the Arctic trail promise to cremate him when he dies, which the companion does--to his great surprise.

First published at the turn of the 19th century, this gripping poem is about a team of fortune hunters heading into the wilderness of the freezing Yukon in search of gold. After promising to cremate his companion, Sam McGee, who is failing from the cold, a prospector discovers something quite unusual after starting the fire. The poem is illustrated here by Ted Harrison.
