My daughter received an RCA MP3 thumb drive as a gift and it glitched within the first week. She returned it to Wallyworld and upgraded to the Creative Zen V Plus 2gb for under $90.00 total. She loved it so much; we decided to buy the Creative Zen Stone for my Autistic son **you can find these reviews in my list** I was displeased with that model so I returned it and started watching ebay for a good deal on a larger memory Zen to give to her, and then she would give the 2gb to her brother.
I was able to pick up a Creative Tech Zen V Plus 4 GB new / refurbished unit for under $50.00. I gave it to my daughter and she loves it. She already loved the 2GB model but she says the 4GB loads faster and has less wait time between modes. The 2, 4, 8, 16GB models all have the same features and size. It is only the memory size that is different.
There was nothing else to buy, and we had no trouble hooking it up to the computer. It can be plugged right into the computer for recharging, has an FM tuner radio, audio player, voice recorder, audio recorder, photo viewer, video player, and calendar, and supported memory. There are plenty of accessories on ebay for the Zen as well. You can easily find car FM tuners, cases, chargers and more for very little.
The Zen V Plus does not feel cheap and easily fits into the pocket. The Zen measures about 1 1/2in x 2in long. Screen Size is apx 1.5in. The screen is easy to read as well due to the great backlight.
I know the Zen V Plus works with these music providers: Napster To Go, Yahoo! Music Unlimited, Rhapsody and more. The sound quality is truly amazing. It works well with Windows Media Player or it also has its own Creative player that works beautifully as well.
Creative Labs also has a download feature on their website for glitches. If you have a software glitch you can plug in your player and download all new software into the unit.
The downsides; it will not take a memory card to upgrade space. If you plan accordingly and buy the right memory size for you, this is not an issue. The earbuds seem to be too large for all our ears. I recommend larger phones or tapered ones instead.
When compared to many other types of MP3s...I personally think the Creative Zen is a wonderful option, at a great better price.
