Creative Technology ZEN Stone (1 GB) MP3 Player

I have used the Apple I-Pod Shuffle but, when looking for another mp3 player, I decided to try the Creative Zen Stone. The Stone is a small, lightweight, and elegantly shaped mp3 player. Creative has always offered dependable electronics, and at half the price of an I-Pod shuffle, it was too good to give up.

The functions between the Shuffle and the Stone are almost identical. The Shuffle has "sharp" edges and looks and feels boxy. The stone has rounded edges and feels like it has been custom molded to your hand. The Shuffle only plays I-Tunes. The zen plays mp3s. Finally, I had had some mechanical issues with my Shuffle, so far, the Stone is playing without a problem.

I would give the shuffle an "excellent" rating if the plastic did not scratch so easily. I would highly recommend buying a silicone protector case for it. I also found the ear phones to be a little bit large for my ears and upgraded to aftermarket ear phones that fit and sounded better. Therefore, a "good" rating was, I felt, justified.

Finally, although the shuffle is nice, it isn't as dependable, stylish, small, or as lightweight as the Stone. Plus, everyone has an i-Pod, and I like being a little bit different! You absolutely will not regret your decision to purchase the Creative Zen Stone.

Happy to have a small creative zen with speaker...had one before and gave it to my granddaughter, so did not want to spend a lot on another one. Love the price and the convenience of ordering.

The ZEN Stone is a basic no frills MP3 player. I have used one since they were introduced. It is very small light weight and simple.

cheap inexpensiv and works very well if i could be programed. would like one that works but i get what i pay for

I like it it holds like 250 songs, great quality and very compact goes everywhere, just put it in your pocket and go. take your favorite tunes bike riding, jogging, to the jim, just to name a few. very easy to use and load with your favorite mp3's or wma's. A co-worker of mine had one he loved it and recemended it very highly, great product by creative. The only thing i don't like about it, I should have gotting one with an external speaker, the ear bud wires get caught sometimes and get pulled out of my ears.

I bought a zen stone and really enjoy using windows media player instead of other ie apple, zune. The one thing i wish it had was a built in clip if you lose or rip the case, then your out of luck and tring to find a replacement is even worse..

With me, this MP3 is really good. 1GB memory helps me bring about 300 songs travel around. Its sound quality is great. In my opinion, it's better than iPod Shuffle (I compare the sound quality 3 times)
The battery is not long enough, it can play in around 7-8 hours, less than an iPod.
Have a little of money, don't want to show the fashion style (like iPod), require for a good quality of what your hear,... this MP3 is a great choice for you.

Very happy with this product. It is hard to find a MP3 player that plays while it is charging. This one does that. I use it for ocean sounds for my daughters to sleep and nap to. Used to use a computer for this now I am saving money.

This little guy fits very inconspicuously in your pocket and its sleek, smooth design makes it a pleasure to hold in your hand. Easy simple controls are a breeze to use, save the play/pause button which can be a bit small for big fingers. Overall battery life is around 8-10 hours when turned on and off (10 hours continuous on a long road trip). I hope that Creative comes up with a way to place some kind of equalization modes to enhance the sound a bit more, but with some good ear nubs/pods/phones the quality of your music is good to very good. If I lost it I'd buy another, I wouldn't buy another shuffle knock off, now that's GARBAGE. Creative totally gives Apple a run for its money with this item! For under $30 (or $12 used in my case) you cant go wrong!

I really like the size and the fact that you can get a keychain case so you can carry your music with you anywhere. I have 2 of these now, one black and one green. Each of these has it's own type of music on it, R&B on one and Country on the other. Sound quality is very good, operation of all the buttons are easy to use and memorize for use night or day. I squeezed just over 200 songs on each. Depending on my mood and what I am doing, I can have my music with me, compact and simple. I use these in my car through the stereo, on my motorcycle through the stereo (a HDD MP3 player will lock up on you on a motorcycle (or ATV) but a FLASH drive will not), on my ATV with headphones, doing yard work, or just kicking back around the house.
The price and function of this little player just can't be beat. It is a plug and play device on my VISTA system, which it a plus! I just plug it in and can delete, load, or move my music without having to remember what software to use or any cd's to keep around.

pesonaly its to small gets lost in pocket but wow does it play loud easy to use down loads are easy thr sound is good if you use better earphones for thr price i paid it was a great value

Buttons are a little had to get to work properly. I bought a 2 gb Stone and being able to have radio and an extra gig of memory is well worth the extra 30 dollars I paid.
