Amazing! Much More Space than the overpriced nano, replacable battery means I don't have to ship it off to apple for repair. Very Good sound quality and volume controls. Ergo controls are easy to use and nice backlight makes it easy to read. Non-proprietary makes this device very usable not stuck using i-tunes, works with Windows Media Player. Partionable Drive allows for file storage from PC. Many more built in and usable features than other comparable devices for less money. Maybe the other manufatures need to take a lesson from creative. Shop around, look at the i-pod, i-river, and others then buy the Zen you won't be sorry.

Creative Labs Are A Great Alternative To IPODS!
Review created: 04/15/06

Honestly, Now... This is a great alternative to IPOD. It is alot less expensive than IPOD and much more functional. Also, I sold portable mp3 players for 4 years in retail/e-commerce. Only thing is, hard-drive mp3 players are not made for runners. Thats what flash is for. Definately an excellent buy!

  Ipod's are for Trend chasers
Review created: 04/29/06

When first looking for an mp3 player i obviously looked at the ipod, but after reading around on it, i found more users knocking it than users who liked it. as electronics go, i don't like to have what everyone else has, so i strive to find devices although not mainstream still is packed with features, and has good functionality. this is hat i found in the zen micro. the device was great to use and NEVER EVER gave me problems installing or transferring music. all i did was plug it in and drivers were installed automatically, and it was ready to run. this device also doubled as a storage device and was easily partitioned. like mentioned above its non-proprietory nature ,means i didn't HAVE TO use itunes to transfer music, i could simple use windows media player. all in all, this device is great, and the fact that most consumers overlook it for ipods, for fashion reasons only, you can get a feature packed device for cheaper than most.

Holds plenty of music, quality was an issue

I purchased my 5gb Zen Micro at a local discount store. Within 30 days the thing had locked up and died. Upon returning it to the store, I was told that was tough and asked to leave. (And I wasn t even rude!!) To make a long story short, I had to send it in to the factory. They fixed it AND upgraded it to a 6gig!!!

OK that out of the way, the way it lights up when I charge it is annoying. During the day, I could care less, but at night its bothersome as I try to sleep with this creepy blue light on my dresser.

The player is bulkier than an I-pod. I keep mine in a padded case that wasn t made for it, but fits perfectly! Some of the accessories are expensive and less available in the stores than the Ipod, however the size makes it perfect for other styles of cases that you might overlook otherwise.
You can not jog or run with this model because it is a hard drive not a flash drive, as are others. You can store data and more music that should be legal!
The customer service is good with the company, if you have the reciept from an authorized dealer. (They have an e-bay store too!) Accessories are found on their website and e-bay store at reasonable prices. The music quality is great, and the interface with my PC is far simpler than the RCA lyras I have owned in the past.
I recommend this MP3 player to anyone that just doesnt want the Ipod and is looking for a large capacity player that is slightly less expensive than the Ipod and a couple of the other brands.

CREATIVE LABS ZEN MICRO (6GB) BLACK MP3 PLAYERi

I BOUGHT A 6GB CREATIVE LABS ZEN MP3 PLAYER AND ONLY USED IT A SHORT WHILE. THE SOFTWARE WAS EASY TO WORK WITH, AND THE PLAYER PREFORMED WELL. THE SOUND WAS VERY GOOD, AND I LIKED THE SMALL SIZE. THE CONTROLS WORKED FAIRLY WELL FOR AN INEXPENSIVE PLAYER. I BOUGHT THIS PLAYER USED, BUT HAD A PROBLEM BECAUSE THE PHONE JACK WAS LOOSE WHICH CAUSED THE SOUND TO CHANGE TO MONO OR GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I RETURNED THE PLAYER FOR A REFUND. I WOULD BE VERY CAREFUL BUYING ANOTHER USED PLAYER. I HAVE BOUGHT A NEW, MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE PLAYER WITH A BIGGER SCREEN, AND I BELIEVE THE EXTRA MONEY WAS WELL WORTH IT.

Review on Creative Labs Zen Micro (6 GB) Black MP3 Play
Review created: 10/03/08

Product is very good. I have had several Creative Labs Zen Micro Players. All players perform as expected. I use mine for loading audio books, while my wife uses hers for mostly music. A great way to pass time while waiting in traffic jams or while on vacation trips in the car.

did not work, I would be an injustice to write about an item that was not usable. It was buy as it was, but the description did say that only one button did not work, however the item was a waste of money

Too bad the Zen Micro isn't being built anymore.
Review created: 08/08/07

These are the best little mp3's built to last..They can be repaired simple and inexpensively...the new ones are a joke compared to these old bad boys. If the motherboard is in good shape all the rest can be replaced or fixed inexpensively. These units should last for years and years. The newer ones on the other hand are built cheap very very cheaply. You even have to take the unit apart just to change the battery. If the hard drive goes on the newer ones throw it in the trash cheaper to buy a new one. And they are not cheap they are expensive for what you get.Dime for dime and dollar for dollar..this is one of the best quality 5 gig bytes player on the market. It is an absolute shame that these are no longer being built.

Excellent price. My player "DROPPED DEAD" and did not respond at attempts to fix. This replacement is cheaper than my original player. Very happy customer.

I love my Zen Micro 6 GB
Review created: 06/08/07

I bought it because I was introduced by Audible.com to Creative with a Muvo, then a Zen Nano Plus 1 GB. My MP3 player had to be other than iPod because I also download books from the library and they work through Microsoft Windows Media Player. Presently I have various books and podcasts on it and have room to spare!!! It will be my library and it is easy to manage and operate. The folks at Creative are very helpful, the Zen Nano had to be returned for repairs and was replaced, I still use all three of them! I would recommend it, a very good value for a great product! By the way, I have just purchased a second Zen Micro 6 GB :-)

  I love my little Zen
Review created: 05/02/07

There's nothing that I don't like about my Zen Micro 6GB. It's interface is very easy to use, it holds 3000 songs, adjustable touch sensitive buttons, etc. I purchased a Travel Dock for both of my Zens (one for work & one for home). Sounds great. I don't even use my home stereo any more.

I just placed a bid on another (my 3rd) 8GB player today. Hope I win it. I use the different players to hold different genres of music. So I have more subtle music at work/home and more upbeat stuff in the car. Way cool player!!!

A Promising Player at a Wonderful Cost
Review created: 03/05/07

0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I needed to replace an identical mp3 player because my friend could not put it back together after trying to fix it. When I received the item, the tracks from the previous owner were still on it, but was easily erased. I was a little disappointed that it had quite a few scratches, but it still works very well. It was definitely worth the price.

  Love it
Review created: 02/06/07

For me the zen is great - tons of memory to hold all the songs I will ever put on it. The only down side is that your average big box store doesn't carry a lot of good accessories for the zen - but if that's my only complaint, I could've done a LOT worse
